Going to Duxford next Sunday with our youngest (15) Anyone got any hints and tips to make the most of the day.

Also Is it best to get there really early or is it not to mad to get in?
Thanks.
Steve.

Is there an air show next sunday? If not the traffic isn't too bad , use junction 10 M11. If there is an air show there is a free bus from one of the park and ride sites near junction 11 of the M11 IIRC. The A14 isn't normally too bad on a sunday if there isn't any road works

Yes there is a show, We are heading over to see it, does that make a big difference. Cheers

Traffic on the M11 at junction 10 (A505)can get a bit heavy , might be worth coming off at junction 11 , turn left towards Cambridge and P and R carpark is on the right. I think it is the Trumpington site that has the free shuttle bus although it may pay to check Duxfords website?? There is parking at Duxford if you get there early enough

PS If I get back from the Anglia meet at Diss I will be watching from my back garden

Take lots of kleenex to mop up the drool from your mouth after hearing all those Merlin and Griffin engines!!.

Stand near the front as the planes usually taxi just feet away.

Enjoy!

Is it just warbirds or are there modern fast jets involved. I',ve got a four year old who I'de love to to take to an air show but fast jets are too much
Is it saturday or sunday?

It says in the inf. that "See a vast collection of highly popular aircraft from vintage propellor to modern day jets" £24 adults £9 up to 15yrs

That I'd like to go to. Gonna have to wait till Flying Legends next summer though.

Will be going to Brands on 4/11 (I think) for some Truck Racing though

Steve, you could also take your son for a flight in a De Havaland Rapide (twin engined bi plane) if they operate on show days. Normally several flights an hour at weekends

Did that three years on the trot. Lovely plane, where passengers get in first so it' doesn't tip on it's nose if pilot get's in first (apparently). Took a vid of one entire flight a few years back.

Be patient, q goes down slowly!

When you get in the plane, look above you for the 'emergency exit'...

...it's a 'cut along the dotted line' job!

It's a wonderful plane to fly in, as the flight is so slow and smooth.

The Rapide must have flown over my house a dozen times on saturday. Always wanted to jump from it .
