Went to the Copdock Bike Show at the Suffolk Showground today... not a bad outing, but best of all was that I finally got to see the only remaining
Wall of Death act in the UK.
My, that's impressive/scary/noisy! Especially when they were running 3 abreast at the end... brave people...
Allways a seceret ambition of mine to ride the wall.
Seem to remember a song "won't you take me on the wall death"
Wall Of Death
Written by Richard Thompson
Appears on Shoot Out the Lights (1982)
Watching The Dark (1993)
Disc A, Watching the Dark (1993)
two letter words: live 1994 (1996)
Celtschmerz: Live UK ’98 (1998)
Faithless (2004)
"RT" Disc 2 - Finding Better Words (2006)
Let me ride on the Wall Of Death one more time
Let me ride on the Wall Of Death one more time
You can waste your time on the other rides
This is the nearest to being alive
Oh let me take my chances on the Wall Of Death
You can go with the crazy people in the Crooked House
You can fly away on the Rocket or spin in the Mouse
The Tunnel Of Love might amuse you
Noah's Ark might confuse you
But let me take my chances on the Wall Of Death
On the Wall Of Death all the world is far from me
On the Wall Of Death it's the nearest to being free
Well you're going nowhere when you ride on the carousel
And maybe you're strong but what's the good of ringing a bell
The switchback will make you crazy. Beware of the bearded lady
Oh let me take my chances on the Wall Of Death
Let me ride on the Wall Of Death one more time
Oh let me ride on the Wall Of Death one more time
You can waste your time on the other rides
This is the nearest to being alive
Oh let me take my chances on the Wall Of Death
Let me take my chances on the Wall Of Death
Oh let me take my chances on the Wall Of Death
Hi i live in hull and this week its the hull fair I'm surprised the wall of death is not there its here most years

Did Richard Thompson ride the wall on his Vincent Black Lightening 1952?
Not sure what was being ridden - there were 2 Indians at least.
None of the bikes had silencers though!
If it is the same one as at Yorkshire Bike show last year there are some really good vids on YOu Tube that my son found.
Awesome

Yes - I was especially impressed by the top rider going round sitting sideways on his bike, holding his arms out sideways - and still swooping up and
down the wall!
UPDATE
Just found their website...

You would be even more impressed with Tornado Smith, the first rider of the wall of death.
He came from Boxford, and I believe his passenger is buried in the grounds of the White Hart PH.
i saw them this summer the lass is hot!
Here's your picture, Paul.

And here's one of the Boxford village sign... look at the bottom image!
Amazing what people are proud of in a little village.
I also noticed that the village claims to have what is possibly the oldest garage in Europe - founded in 1900. Now full of Porsches and one Ferrari
330 GTC (but that may not have been for sale).
