Anyone used one of these things?

They're made by SIP under a different name, fair bit cheaper than their main "branded" compressors, so I'm naturally suspicious/paranoid!

When I actually had a look at one in B&Q (another reason for paranoia) it seemed pretty robust and tidy, but I'd like some feedback based on 1st-hand experience!

I don't know anything about them, but if you think it's the sort of thing you could do with, and it's price is reasonable, go for it.

If it turns out to be crap, take it back. If it breaks within the year, take it back.

I bought a pipe bender from screwfix which was crap, they took it back. They didn't say how thick the steel tube needed to be!!

i got 2 of the things (2.5hp models) connected in paralell and they quite happily run my air tools quite happily
,sand blaster,impact wrench, da sander devilbis air gun.

Sounds good Tim - it's the 2HP/50 litre model I'm looking at, mostly to run small air tools such as a drill, socket wrench, and maybe a cut-off tool.

Should be OK for those, shouldn't it? It says that it the compressor part can manage 9cfm, which is better than many more expensive models, and I won't be running many tools continuously, if any.

by 2hp does that mean petrol? that is very cheap if it is, mine was a 7cfm 8bar 24ltr thing for £100 from machine mart. not as good but still cheap!

2HP electric!

I think that there's roughly 750W per HP, so this would be a 1.5KW electric motor. Takes roughly 6 Amps, if my maths hasn't failed me.

Compressors are notoriously hard on motors, with a very high starting load, so a high-powered motor with a cooling fan is very useful.

Maybe they should fit them with decompressors until they are up to speed
