Arrggghhhh
space heater ran out of propane yesterday, so this afternoon of picked up another bottle.
Damn thing wont light now.
Sparker works, fan blows and gas comes out and blows around the garage but it just won't bloody light!!!!!
Taken it to bits, checked and cleaned everything, still no good.
Took the front off, stood my zippo up inside it and it Juuuuuuust lit with soft blue flame then went out again,,,,crap!!!
ahh well, anybody got a space heater going spare?
You would have thought that they're aren't that many bits to go wrong!!! You haven't plugged it into the MIG Co2 mix by accident?

Is it clean where the "hole" to atmosphere is ?

Try lighting it with a blowlamp, there's a thermocouple in mine which has to be in the heat before it will let the gas out when you let go of the button after the prescribed 30 seconds.
How cold is the gas cylinder - I know with mine , if the temperature gets anywhere near freezing the gas pressure drops off to near zero. I usually
(health & safety look away now) run a blowlamp around the cylinder to stir it back into life......!
Edited to say that it looks like the low temperature issues are only with butane (boiling point 4C), so probably not your problem.

Well that way you'll certainly find out if the lack of pressure is due to a slow leak
Could it be that there is a thermocouple on the heater like Pete says and hat is knackered. I know that is the cause of several hating boiler that I've fixed. Dunno if they're the same as boiler ones but B&Q sell a universal one for about a fiver.
not the thermocouple, it won't fire even with the button pressed, just won't light at all.
As for the regulator, I suspect that as well, but its tricky to test! I removed the outlet pipe and gas certainly blasts out pretty well when you turn
the bottle on, so it should be sending some to the heater, but the pressure could be wrong I guess.
I did find that towards the end of the last bottle before it ran out there was a slight gassy odour which I couldn't find the source of, wonder
if it was the diaphragm in the reg???
diaphragm in the regulator is a common thing .
what would the symptoms be?
I have gas coming out of the regulator (with the hose removed) when i turn the bottle on (as in out of the outlet where it should come out! ) and I
can't light the gas in the heater, when I did manage to using a lighter it was a VERY deep blue and very weak flame..............
can it draw in air at the diaphragm in the regulator?
if it is that then i will pick up a spare reg at the weekend and try it.

well all i know is mine went wrong , a local welder said bet its teh regulator - so i replaced it - cant help more than that .
is the jet/injector blocked at all .
the have to be at the right pressure to burn properly , hence different jets/injectors that you find on domestic stuff .
You say the sparker works, is it sparking in the same place it always has with the same intensity?.
Maybe the spark gap has become too wide?.
Another one to try might be to turn the regulator down a bit, as if there's too much gas sometimes they won't light.
Also check your hose! they need replacing every few years as they can rot inside. If this happens and the hose kinks the insides can stick themselves
together and effectively block the flow. try blowing through the tube with the ignition button pressed you should feel some resistance but get flow.
if you go red in the face you prbably have a blocked tube!

PLAN!!!
Disconnect the pie from the heater.
Stuff a 6mm bolt up the end of the tube.
Drill a few 3mm holes in the tube.
Turn the gas on and light the gas that is now pouring out of the tube.
Violin!! A heater............
