Garage heater - which one?
chrsgrain - 22/11/07 at 08:06 PM

OK guys...

its definitely getting colder and we need a garage heater - have dry lined the walls and put in a plasterboard roof with loft insulation above it - and put polystyrene on the metal door...

Any ideas which one? Don't want a gas one, had that before and it made loads of condensation... just need one big enough to keep SWMBO warm !

Those electric infra red ones kick out a fair bit of heat

Cheers

I like my IR one (8quid so might be worth a shot) Have to be close to it though. Nice thing is that you don't heat all the air up and it's very much instant heat.

But if you want to space heat the whole garage you might need something else.

I'm sure you've just forgotten to mention it.. but I presume you've got something covering the floor?.

I've always thought fan heaters were pretty good as you could direct them towards you where your working.

Work harder work faster, use hacksaw and files instead of angle grinder wear long johns under trousers and a proper wooly jumper under the boiler suit !

SWMBO would look nice in wooly jumper and ski pants

I don't like fan heaters. They blow the cold air around whilst giving off very little heat. Also they suck bits of angle grinding into the element which then fuses with a bang. I'd recommend an oil filled radiator (I've got a Delonghi Dragon) or for the Scottish out there, a Dickies thermal worksuit and a Thinsulate beanie hat!!

I use a IR heater and a fan heater to help distibute heat about. worked very well in a 13' x 29' garage that i used to have a when building.
