I passed my direct access bike test today! First time, with no minors! I'm over the moon! Escpecially since yesterdays test was cancelled due to high winds and everything was going wrong this morning....what a feeling though! Oli.

Congrats!

Isn't it a much better feeling than passing your car test!

I really enjoyed mine, even though it was 14years ago now! (also with no minors!)

Nice one, well done, being an old git I never took the complicated test, just a ride round the block, then the loony eximiner would jump out unexpectedly and expect you to stop.
Got anyting in mind 'big' bike wise?

Congratulations!

What bike are you looking to go for?

Passed mine with 1 minor a few years back - haven't ridden a bike since! Something to do with the fact I was doing trauma at the time, and a lot since!

Thinking about one of these new naked street bikes (everything is enhanced when naked of course), ie.
Triumph street triple,
Ducati monster,
Honda Hornet etc etc,
any suggestions?? Oli.

Training for and passing my bike test was one of the most fun things I've ever done, took my mind completely off serious recent ex girlfriend issues at the time for one thing

HOWEVER Bikes actually get boring surprisingly quickly if you haven't got any other friends with bikes.......so I'd buy one just a bit quicker than whatever they have of whatever type bike they ride - otherwise........buy something you can sell easily in about 12 months time.......

Dangle_kt - 24/11/07 at 10:23 AM

street triple

Fozzie - 25/11/07 at 05:49 PM

Honda Hornet!

Although.....I have to say, the Fozzmobiles front indicators are 'Ducati Monsters'

Whatever you choose, have fun......

Fozzie

Congrats, take care and don't let your bike become a doner.

Same here too, don't know how true it was but there was a story years back about the tester that stepped out in front of the wrong bike for the emergency stop ??? You know what happened next, (allegedly)

What, served in a pitta bread with a choice of salad and chili/garlic sauce?

(sorry, couldn't resist....)

A friend of mine who I hillclimb with took a Street Triple for a test ride a few weeks ago. Needless to say he takes collection of a new one in March!

He said it's a superb road bike...

Other good suggestions for a first 'big' bike are an SV650 or a Cagiva Raptor 650. Another friend of mine bought an SV last year after not having a bike for some time. I had a play on it the day he bought it and really liked it but wanted another 30+bhp. I ended up with a Cagiva Raptor 1000!
