If you moved to france say, would you be able to register an already uk road legal kit car. I thought they did not allow them, no doubt cos they show up their pathetic 2CV...

The 2CV was quite well designed.
How many of your favourite cars will drive all day flat out, quite happily?
It wasn't designed to compete with Ferraris.

So long as its not based on an Austin Allegro or a Morris Marina I think you will be alright!

I'm wondering what the humble 2cv has done to the guy to warrant such hatred, i am biased of course.

Depends on how much road you have, only need a few mile stretch for a 2CV to run flat out all day

I trust those who slate the 2cv have first hand experience at driving one, it would be a shame to cast aspersions ( i do hope i spelt it right) just because they are different. If you get the chance to watch them racing, do so, they may not be supersonic but they sure put on a good show

Whippy,

I seem to remember someone saying it was bloody hard to do.

You've gotta get it signed off by the town mayor or something!

Cheers,
James

yeah I heard something much along the same lines, I think it is because they are not TUV tested. We're really lucky here in that we can knock up a car in the garage and then be allowed to use it on a public road.

I was thinking of moving abroad soon, but I think France might be out...Italy perhaps.

Mr Whippy, ask Rudi on here about reg in Italy.
If not I met an Italian guy in the summer who has been importing kits - now lives in Switzerland 'cos he reckons it's a much more pleasant country than most other European ones and it's not that expensive. U2U me if you want his contact details.
BTW SWMBO and I reckon the ideal would be to alternate spending 3 months renting in Italy then back to the UK. Keeps your UK residency and benefits going by retaining a UK address. French are now making life awkward for "immigrants" who they reckon should be self-supporting - don't start me on that one - I thought we were all part of the same European community.
Cheers, Pewe
