I have a Drakart (fireblade) buggy which I will be racing next year. I want to get some track time to familiarise myself with it and to shake down set ups etc. Problem is that it is open wheeled and all track day organisers I know will only allow covered wheel vehicles. Also, its only a single seater which seems to be an issue. Does anyone know a track day organiser which will turn a blind eye to this or allow this to run?

What about test days? The car doesn't have an MSA log book which seems to prevent it from running on test days, is this correct?

I would appreciate any feedback and suggestions which you can offer!

should be able to run it on track days with other single seaters .

blyton - turn up with anything you want and you can run it .

If so, I'd take it to the beach! Or bribe a local farmer / quarry.

Fit some cycle wings to it and most trackday organisers will allow you to run. They only need to be temporarily permanent. The fact that it is a single seater, shouldn't be an issue with most organisers.

You could make some aluminium ones quite easily.

As weird coincidences would have it there was one of those on a Top Gear repeat on 'Dave' this morning.

As said some cheap cycle wings should be enough to get you on track.

Have been to track nights at knockhill with these things on at the same time. My blade indy was faster despite mad driving from the buggys

Hi I think your best and probably cheapest option would be BRUNTINGTHORPE . Plenty of space no set regulations to comply with and ussualy no one else to get in your way.

Prices are somwhere in the region 0f £20-£30 an hour ( i think . used to be )

Just off the M1 junction 20.

Do they do this on an arrive and drive format?
i have seen a few trackdays there but here usually £100 plus and really just fancy an hour or so at a time to suit me.

Hi we have used them for just running our own car around on the longer circuit for high rpm fueling problems. And i know some locost / kit racers and Westfield owners have also booked in on their own and used the circuit for testing. So i don't think there is any need to use an organised track day type setup. Although there are many organised trsackdays run there by various groups.

Obviously depends what days they have available. But as far as i know its a case of booking in for a certain day and pay for the hrs you use at £20-£30 per hour.

Just give them a call. Better to get all the info from them. Just in case i am bringing any confusion into it. But they have always been very helpful in the past.
