Is it just me or does anyone else think this "study" is a total waste of money!! I really dont believe that this could be considered
worthwhile!!!

Yes as you say a total waste of money but the government has an unlimited supply of it. If it needs more to waste it can just raise the duty on
fuel.
When I make myself benevolent dictator of the world the first thing i'll do is give Scotland full independence. Then I'll deport Golden
Brown back home. Mind u he'd try and claim political asylum in England i suppose. The rest of the Labour Party would then be sent on a well
deserved holiday of a lifetime at Guantanamo Bay.

My immediate thought was of that poor chimpanzee who was taught ASL (American Sign Language) - by many definitions he was smarter than many humans,
but he still lives in a cage, treated like an animal. For all I know, he may have died in that cage.
This idea will never get off the ground - unless the robots arm themselves! (think Terminator or I Robot).
the broader topics of what was researched were worth studying, such as space flight and effects of increasing human lifespans, but i do hope the robot
study wasnt an expensive one! Maybe a few grads chatting for a few hours over a beer or two! Knowing our gov that would still cost 20k...
