I finished my GTS and have covered over 4000miles since.
Helped build a formula student car, and then drove it at Silverstone.
Graduated from Warwick uni with a degree in Manufacturing Engineering and Management.
Became a full member of the IET.
Started my full time job as a project engineer, spending money thats not mine.
Met loads of great new people, and had to say goodbye to loads too that I got to know over the past 4 years.
Spent too long on the internetm, particularly on here.
Built myself a new pc.
Managed to hang onto my girlfriend for another year, making it 4 now
Started saving for a house.
What have you done?
David
Not much
Not driven the Viento enough
Stopped taking the Tablets
Stopped seeing the Shrink
I suppose that's a good start.
Lets hope 2008 see more driving for me.
Aim is to do the Stelvio Pass in a Se7en
Not sure which is higher... the Aim, or the Pass

Paid my taxes so you could have a good education
Well done on the degree and getting a job. Hopefully you'll still be paying tax, when I start collecting my pension

When I stop and think about it, although probably quite insignificant by some standards, quite a lot:
Finally gone and done it and started an Aries Locoblade!
Hung up my muddy overalls, helmet and goggles and given up autograss racing.
Experienced my son passing his driving test and writing off his first car the next day (no, he's not being allowed anywhere near the 7!)
Went to my son's eighteenth birthday party which is not something that will happen again.
Quit my job earlier this week and will be moving on to pastures new later in the New Year.
Here's to 2008! Happy New Year to you all!
Not much here
Work,work and yet more work
Still, lots of good intentions for next year
The year statarted off quite crap for me.
My heart consultant said somthing about a by-pass & i dont think he meant anything to do with a new road !!??

.
Well you you have to keep a smile on things.
Looking for something less physical. I saw sense and finally gave up on my Triumph Vitesse restoration project.
I dusted the cover from my locost book that my wife bought me 3 years ago.
HMMM, I think I could manage that.
Donor, Donor, Doner. What to do.
For my birthday my wife gives me a nice new shiny book. Haynes Roadster.
Thanks to Chris Gibbs, all of my donor problems were sorted
I was kindly given a 1992 1.8 Sierra. Low milage & well mantained.
Most of the Triumph parts were sold & has so far paid all of my build costs.
Chassis now built & looking forward to having it on its wheels over the new year.
All in all a rather lazy year for me. Oh i did manage to re-tile the bathroom. Although it did take me a couple of months.
I wish all on the forum, the very best of seasons greetings.
Ronnie
On a personal note.
A very big thank you to Chris Gibbs
Not only for your help, also for the motivation you gave me through you book.

In 2006 I politely told my previous employer where it could stick its cr@ppy job, and took some time out (a sort-of gap year). Fairly late on in 2007
I got a new job - less money, but a whole lot less stress, and much more job satisfaction.
I'd rather not be working, but I can't afford to do that. As I have to work, the job I've got is just fine.
I hope everyone gets what they want/deserve in 2008!
2007 saw my son Caleb arrive in this world. He has brought a new stage to my life and I am very happy, if a little tired.
It also saw me start a job I have been after for years, as a Business Excellence Manager, lots of travelling but I love the job.
Finnally it saw me sell my big bikes (I still have a few minibikes) and get a part built locost which I am fitting with a blade engine.
All in all, a good year.
2008 will see my locost on the track and *maybe* SVA'd, will see us move house to a nicer area, see me qualfy as a six sigma black belt and take
a large pay ncrease and will see my lad walk for the frst time. BRING IT ON!
Put a 4th bedroom and bigger garage
on my house as we had our 3rd daughter this year....o and bolted a hand brake to the avon .

Worked the lowest amount of hours so far in 30 years
Thought i was going to meet my maker in feb/march so like geoff i stopped taking the tablets, feel much better now
Not sure if i need a shrink yet
Didnt drive the car much due to engine transplant and very very bad weather.
Bit of house DIY inside and out, pretty much same old same old.
I did though manage to get down to Dorset for a litle over 5 weeks of the year, its nice to drop off the grid now and then
Finshed and SVA'd the Indy and driven 2,500 miles in all weathers and temperatures
Enjoyed my son Leo growing up. He will be 2 on Christmas day
Given the wife twins
which are due in April.
^^^^^^^^^^
Had to face up to this and change my replacement company car choice froma an Audi A3 S Line to a VW Passat estate
Carried on the eternal DIY and decorating jobs around the place. Had a conservatory built which I now have to decorate etc
Worked hard and paid my overbearing and ever increasing dues to the non-elected government
Got a promotion and decent pay rise from work for working hard and increasing the companies turn over and profit over and above expectations
Gained a bit more weight and lost a bit more fitness and flexibility
Spent a lot of time on here sharing info, ideas and experiences with some great people
All in - looking forward to more of the same next year albeit poorer and with less time after the twins arrive

The arrival of 2 grandson's in February and April.
21 day trek to Everest base camp in aid of Cancer Research UK
Retired in July (65yrs)
diving in st kitts,
worked my little trainee nuts off,
helped keep the fens "dry" in the summer floods,
somone introduced me to building cars and i got the bug for it,
met loads of new people especially these car nutters
,
woke up in strange places,
girlfriends came and went,
did my first 540 on skis,
kept fit
Got rid of my negative tax code
B*LL*CKS:
Typed a lovely response and it then lost it (must remember to do this in wordpad!).
So - 2007 was
have a great 08 to one and all
EDIT: P.s. If ChrisW is on watching, here's my wish list for locostbuilders in 2008:
A FAQ section and/or a link to the wiki carbuilders.info.
A 'my cars' section as per PH.
A post of the week/month/year function. My vote for 2007 was McLannahan's response to Jon Ison asking how you went about importing a
domesticated elephant, "...Not THIS question again. Have you tried searching?"
Better search engine.
Thanks!

experienced my first negative temperatures (negative in degrees fahranheit that is) minus 7 is no fun don't care who you are
got altitude sicknes for the first time whilst continuing my quest to become a groovy snowboarder
2008 is going to be a big year for me too, with work specifically. I was sent to the states to complete a series of profesional accreditations in my
field.
ALso by this time next year i will have comlpeted my 7 and have raced it a bit too fingers crosses
ive fitted about 80 kitchens, survived my first wedding aniversary, drawn a few more sketches and i think at the beginning of the year i might actually have welded some bars into the chassis in the garage! Im also sure ive gone backwards financially this year, however, at least i gained a years memories and experiences!

Frustrations:
Went to bed too late too many times due to daft things like cr@p films on telly and Facebook/LB.
Started to miss my coleagues (friends) from my old job.
Did a 'quick' radiator upgrade on the Locost that ended up with it in pieces but then got the keys of the house and not had time/inclination
to sort the car.
Rubbish weather so no motivation to sort the car and then drive it.
Positives:
Bought my first house in April, a do-er up-er. Finally moved in last weekend with my girlfriend.
Had a fantastic holiday in Spain with my girlfriend and our best friends. Can't wait to go back 2008.
Won the British Savate kickboxing championships for the 2nd year running.
Won Silver in the European Savate Kickboxing Championships.
Won Gold in the England Tae Kwon-Do championship.
Took voluntary redundancy from my job of 9 years; a job where the workload had reduced over the last years until only enough work for an hour every
three weeks wasn't too fulfilling!
Offering me more than a year's pay meant I practically bit their hands off.
Not sure what I'm going to do instead.. at the moment plumbing is looking likely... but not so sure now.
Oh and finally, had an amazing but massively drunken experience last night.... and for the sake of all involved I can give no more details. Save to
say it's one of those 'Things to do before you're 30/die' moments that all males wish for!
And seeing as I'm 30 next April I glad I got it in when I did!
Have a great Christmas everyone and Best Wishes for 2008!
Cheers,
James

Finally got my back axle in bits.
Bought a house with garage and workshop. Now got no money to do anything on car. Mowed the lawn twice. At this rate there'll be no fossil
fuels left by time i get on road so no need to worry about unleaded head.

Iv bought/moved into my second house. ( this one with big garage!!) Now loads of decorating to do.
Driven my locost all be it not on the road. Havent touched it much due to the above sapping my funds and my new bathroom sweet surrounding the
locost, which has been there for 3 months and havent been able to due it cos i did my back in then had troubles with my chest.
The weathers not given my much inspiration to get the car done either.
Had my daughters 1st birthday and 3rd wedding anniversary (or is it 4th).
Thats is sure ive done summit else but cant remember.
Oh yeah worked to dam much in a job that im fed up with!!
For 2008.
FINALLY FINISH THE DAM LOCOST!!!!!!
Its been virtually ready since the summer!!
Maybe change my job.
This is a cracking thread
I suggest we have one every year so people can look back and see what's been achieved.
- Driven the car 3 (?) times this year... twice on track.
+Saw my son (11) and daughter (14) much more this year as a result.
-Worked much more - saw a lot of my business clients move to Eastern Europe
had my worst year in 12 years.
+Assisting in the design of the latest Rolls Royce engines - should see my business increase again...
+Went to the Gym and played Squash MUCH more...
Apart from that nothing much....
Steve
Mmm Had appendix removed, caught infection, lost 2 stone in 4 days, spent 2 1/2 weeks in hospital, was off work for 6 weeks and spent the rest of the
year working my arse off. Very little progress on the car.
On the upside I got my tig (thanks calvinx) and we went to Newark and met a few of you guys. Agriv8, bigrich and marcmnr to name a few. As it is now
xmas eve and I am no longer in BAH HUMBUG mode
Merry xmas to you all

That was a BIG apendix

i started 2007 by chasing a guy about the railway at 00:05 and then caught a drunk driver about 03:00 a very eventful night.
i started my haynes roadster in april, something i have always wanted to do. i just didnt think i could do it but with advice and the fact that so
many people on here were building i jumped in and for that i thank you all and for answering my sometimes(mostly) stupid questions.
i also found out in april my wife was expecting my second child which is due on the 1st of January (no drink for me)
lost my father in november
started to speak to my brother again after 3 years without threatening to kill him. (its true what they say you can pick your friends but not your
family)
looking forward to 2008 a new start, a new family member, new challenges at work and at home hopefully getting my car to a rolling chassis by the end
of 2008
merry xmas and a happy new year
all the best for 2008
Davie
Started 2007 by sorting my locost out with a tax disc.... ended it by getting its first MOT.
At work spent the year working on a voltage feedback system I patented - should be demonstrating it in a month or so.
The electric car project now has a finished chassis, body at the paint shop & motor at the rewinders.
School electric car came 5th in the national final & next years is designed & well underway & ought to be a winner.....
Set my brother up with some power conditioners for his "solar powered automatic gates" business - 5 sets now insatlled at lead customer.
Drove the locost less than 400 miles - what pi55 poor weather we've had!
So been busy & with a good measure of success, so quite happy. Not enough sex though.........
