not suprising when you see how much electronic's is in them, if I recall they have two motherboards. They only look simple.

Most of the complexity is in the failsafes, stabilising an inverted pendulum is not a very difficult problem. With the ready availability of cheap solid state accelerometers and cheap fast micros people have already made Locost Segways.
