break out the towels and boiling water

Davie

blakep82 - 7/1/08 at 10:49 PM

Go for a nice long walk together and thing should start to happen, worked for my wife first time round, think we walked 2 miles...slowly...but got nature moving

Good luck...ps don't complain when they are in labour....they will remember and taunt you for life....

Good luck. Ours is due in 2 weeks.
There are plenty of old wives tales about inducing labour.......

Long walks, curry, cod liver oil (not recomended now due to high levels of fish oils) and good old sex.

Give them a try, in which ever order you feel like

davie h - 7/1/08 at 10:56 PM

i had to sit and listen to a midwife today as she told me go home and get it on with the wife see if that could get things moving

congratulations,
our first had to be induced, but early due to complications,
I bet you wont get to Friday but when ever the little one decides to make an appearence, enjoy the ride on the emotional roller coaster

Also, next time go private, pregnancies on the NHS can take upto 9 months

graememk - 7/1/08 at 11:03 PM

the best way to bring it on naturaly is to go out on the wee with your mates and start to have a good time, give it 5 mins and i bet your phone rings.

best of luck fella

Thank god you ARE on the NHS, My mate lives in America and they charge by the Hour!!!!

Can cost 10K while in the hospital (I can't remember if that was pounds or dollars!!!)

He said he was trying to hurry his wife along

Have a heart guys - having a baby really hurts ya know.

I couldn't feel my fingers for days after she'd finished squeezing 'em

i never felt a thing the first time round

Davie

russbost - 7/1/08 at 11:34 PM

Never hurt me - well except when she squeezed my hand too hard!

I was told a curry & a Sh*g would get the job done, but my missus produced our first 6 weeks early! So I was unrequired!

Good Luck

Delivery or conception?

With your wife, presumably?

jollygreengiant - 8/1/08 at 03:54 AM

I was close at hand with both (not quite so close with the second) so that at one point (with the first) my wife got her arm round my neck and was pulling quite tightly with it. So much so that apparently the midwives had to forget about the delivery and extract a blue and semi conscious husband before they could carry on. The last I really remember is one of the girls in there TELLING her to relax and let go of my neck.

When all is done, first hope is that Mother & baby are well, after that anything else is a bonus. Good luck & don't miss the delivery, its better than building ANY car.

whitestu - 8/1/08 at 08:32 AM

I can vouch for the curry and s**g method - for both conception and bringing on labour.

Nice to get TOLD to get it on for a change, instead of having to beg for it

Agriv8 - 8/1/08 at 09:23 AM

Hey up - was in the same situation 5 months ago

Get to the health food shop and get some ' Rasberry leaf capsuels ' It might help.

Mrs was given the chemicals by the midwives stuff and at 13:00 by 5am the next morning I was a proud dad ( since then I have seen quites a few 5am's .

Oh just found the tread I started there are some tips in there

Fingers crossed for the ( Nearly ) 3 of you.

Be careful with the raspberry leaf tea - it speeds up labour. My wife drank gallons and nearly had the baby in the Royal Free car park!

From the onset of labour to delivery was about 45 mins.

Peteff - 8/1/08 at 12:08 PM

Surely you had some part in the proceedings

hoots_min - 8/1/08 at 12:50 PM

I would recommend curry and sex, or to double the effect curry and sex together, mmm!!

Good luck, we had our 3rd 2 months ago, looks like I am next for a visit to hospital.

I hear it doesn't hurt much nowadays .... unless the surgeon traps his fingers

russbost - 8/1/08 at 04:47 PM

Ah! With the wife that's where I was going wrong!

Oh & BTW when you go for the snip the anaethstetic doesn't work - didn't for me anyway
