I know it's not locost but it will be built on a tight budget. One day i'll have the nuts all out Cobra but untill then this will do just

Although I now love my revvy fireblade engine, there's just something about a big lazy V8.

Best of luck with the build, i am assuming you have a build manual to get stuck into while you await the chassis so should get yourself planned
ahead.
Did you buy a donor package from pilgrim for the running gear ?
Nice one Andy
Might have a sly bet with Fozzie though
Cheers

I'll build a rack on the back for your Zimmer frame!!

Nowt wrong with the Rover V8.
OK expensive to get 300+Bhp.
A 3.5litre will give you plenty of performance. Just put a decent cam and a 4 barrel carb on it and it will go very well indeed.
Its only a few Kg more than a pinto, so a BIG weight saving over a V8 ford or Chevvy.
Nowt wrong with those engines either.
You will have a good while to choose and obtain an engine and box.
Just check out the exhaust manifolds and pipes before getting an Engine, as they are not cheap either.
Take your time, and get every little detail correct, then you will have a stormer of a car. Well worth the effort.
Not to mention the pride and chest swelling that goes with the "I built it myself" answer to peoples questions.
I have a Viento, and have had lots of people say "Nice Car mate" (Even the chavs have commented favourably).
So dont rush, and get it right first time. Its easier and cheaper, and gives you a better finish. You don't want to be filling up holes that your
drilled in the wrong place do you etc etc.
Have fun and photograph the build, and put them in your archive for all of us to enjoy.
EDIT:
Why not get a 3 litre Granada / Scorpio Cosworth for a Donor?. 200BHP out of the box.
OK you wont have that Lurverly V8 burble, but the V6 dont sound that bad either.
Just a thought, and all from one Donor.

i all so have gone down the chevy or the rover
the chevy is cheep power but you get a hell off weight
the rover is not as power full but a lot less weight to carry about
take your time disiding but for me the rover is the best
good look on your build and will hope to see some picks as soon as you get going
jim
It's funny how some people immediately say things like "ooh do this, do that and you'll get 7 zillion bhp"
I'm not after
loads of bhp, i just want a reliable engine that can actually pull the skin off a rice pudding
I love the sound of the RV8 and through side pipes
it's gonna sound superb, although 175bhp would ne nice.

Surley you need to put a bike engine in your Viento [or 2!!] and sell me your V8 for £50

I wouldnt bother with the donor package from pilgrim, i am sure we can find a column with all the switches and racks are reasonable new.
It would be better and easier to source a diff with the ratio you actually want/need for youe engine box choice, so i would collect seperatley
although i know what you will do

I have a list of what i need so i'll have a look on fleabay and see whats about,
I can get everything for £378 all box'd and ready to go.
here is the list:
Front hub uprights
Discs & Callipers
Steering rack (RHD)
Brake master cylinder with servo & vacuum pipe
Pedal box
Steering wheel, column*, switches, mouldings and shroud (non adjustable)
Ignition lock & key
Red relay for wiper delay
Handbrake lever with switch
Front door locks & striker plates
Differential with rubber mounting
2 Drive shafts
Rear radius arms
Brakes and drums
And most importantly of all, a registration document.
Is £378 without VAT, i would expect a mint sierra for that
Yes, without vat....***************
Theres no way the Mrs will allow a sierra on the drive and anyway my drive slopes so i can't put it on stands so i really need parts removed. I
know it's cheaper to get a whole sierra but thats out the question.
However would it be cheaper to get parts from here and ebay including the reg document?
