Any suggestions to prolong the life of a 15 year old car?
Rear suspension has all beeen removed and there is mild surface rust everywhere including the bones.
What are the options?
I'm sure if left, it will be fine but.....
Hand paint red oxide primer and then sticky underseal?
Primer and then exterior gloss?

a big pot of grease!
ok, seriously, i'd clean up any really rusty bits then just underseal it lightly.
you'll do nothing for the race weight though!
tom
just noticed you say tin top. have you bought summat else? if so, just thick underseal it.

a few coats of hammerite or something?
Nothing new - this is the same track day project ;-)
Can you get underseal that isn't sticky?

Waxoyl, nothing better.
Clear or black
Waxoyl, gets my vote, messy but worth while.. You will need to re-do it once in a while though.. If you have a compressor it's not so bad a
job...

POR15 is supposed to be very good for this kind of thing, but whatever you use put some kind of stone protection on the top of it.
slap on some direct to rust paint and then underseal...
This is exactly what I'm up to myself though mines not rusty. Thin the Waxoyl with white spirit after painting the cleaned surface with either a rich zinc paint or one that changes the rust into magnetite i.e. the rust goes black (dead rust). If it's damp put an electric fan heater on the panel first. Buy a big bag of disposable gloves as this is unbelievably messy to do. My car is 19 years old and mint due to being coated every year in the stuff.
Waxoyl gets my vote , although spraying the under side once a year with engine oil will keep the rust at bay. Under seal tends to cause more problems than it solves.

I missed that thread originally! Funniest thing I've read in ages. Can hardly see the screen for tears.
I'd vote for Waxoyl. Get the spray kit they do. Brush off the rust and away you go with the spray. Wear a full hooded overall and goggles; Waxoyl
will waterproof YOU if you spray it and then water and soap just bounces off!

How about this stuff?
I know it stays a bit tacky, but should never need to touch up there with my fingers.
