I want to buy an in dash TV a bit like this as im taking my sisters to scotland in april and wanted to prevent my younger sister (13) complaining she is bored. From what i understand, you cant watch TV or DVD while you are driving for legal reasons. Is there any way round it so she can watch tv while i am driving?
As long as the tv's not in the drivers view its ok. So if its on the dash aimed at her it'll be ok but to be on the safe side it'd be
better to have her in the back of the car and tv in the head rest.
That unit that you're looking at can't be aimed so you'll be able to see it all the time, this is technically Illegal.
As its in the dash, it'd be difficult to see from outside of the car so you'd probably get away with it. If you do get it you'll
probably have to hook a wire up to the handbrake switch. Just be sure to not connect or you won't be able to watch it when driving.

if its in the front.
im not sure on the legallity,
technically though, there is a wire to be used that prevents it being used on the move,,i assume this can be bypassed, my sons car has, not sure how
has wired his though.

Just had a squint at the pic at the bottom of the auction and it says there is a wire to be connected to the handbrake. I would assume if i dont connect this wire would be an easy way of bypassing it?
I think the (sensible for once) rule is that the driver must not be able to see the screen. Stick her in the back and install the unit so she can see
it from there.
That said a 13 year old will ALWAYS be bored no matter what you do to amuse them. It's what they do.
Get her spotting 2008 number plates ?
just wire the one thats meant to go to the handbrake to a 12v feed and it'll work just fine, thats all i've done with mine. great for having
the metallica videos on for the crawl in traffic home at night

just a note of caution i recently bought a simalar system and have had problems trying to get tv signal
dvd was fine though and as a bonus you get surround sound also
as regards the tv/dvd whilst driving i just connected my earth for this to the main radio earth with no problems
it wont work as a tk as you dont even get a radio signal in some places on the m74 coming up from england

If your driving through Scotland the scenery is far better than any TV program, tell her to look out the window![]()
