My garage workshop is detatched from the house, we are thinking about upgrading our central heating to a combi etc.. I was considering installing the old boiler and a few rads in the garage. Question is, will the boiler run off Calor Butane(blue bottles) correctly regulated? I'm not thinking of running it permanently, just lighting it when I'm in there in the cold.....

Seems like a very complicated and expensive way of doing it...

Get some electric heaters!

I believe you would have to have the valves/jets resized to take bottled gas...May even require a different control system...

How big is garage?

In my old house mine was 13' wide x 29' long, pitch roof etc. All i did was switch on the halogen cheapie heater with second fan heater blowing across it while i had my tea, an hour later the garage was toasty. I sometimes had a second fan heater at other end of garage.

Decent overalls on, good boots (or 2 pairs of socks), keep busy and you will soon be too hot.

Garage is 30' x 16', pitch roof etc... was trying not to impact the house electricity or gas bills heating it. I have a small offshot area where I could mount the boiler, meaning it would be safe to spray paint with the heating on, and not risk explosion.
Sounds like the idea is biting the dust, but thanks for the input folks.

I used to have an old sealed flue gas wall heater in my shed running off propane.I drilled the nozzle by trial and error until it burned correctly , found it to be an effective and fairly cheap to run heater using the medium size propane bottles.

its a bit of a dodgy proposition i think! and a definate no no if not a room sealed appliance. LPG bottles opperate at a much higher pressure than natural gas which would result in changes in jets which would also depend on the type of boiler if even possible, time you install boiler, rads, header tank or as a sealed system. think a cheep radiant electric heater, or electric fan heaters, but remember to turn off before spraying!!

sounds a terrible idea to me, but you may know what you're doing! Seems a lot of effort and quite risky for not much gain, plus their are easier options.
