Got time over?
Michael Arndt is a man of matchsticks. Over the course of six years, using 956,000 matchsticks, 1686 tubes of glue, and at least three different
varieties of mustache, he built a full-scale replica of a McLaren 4/14 F1 car, at a cost of around 6000 Euros

That's just mad.........

He should have gone to Russ Bost.
For that sort of money, he could have got one that actually moved under it's own power!
He is not right in the head, is he?
I was going to suggest he must be a sad and lonely individual, but he appears to have a not unattractive woman in one photo with him.
Doing garden gate counting of all the matchsticks you've used takes OCD to new levels though
Edit: just saw this by the writer
quote:
We are at a loss for words as to why a female appears in one of the pictures, other than it's possible such intricate, craftsmanly pastimes are not held in the same disdain by women in Germany as they are by ladies closer to home. Though it is also possible she's a paid model.
Too much time on his hands...
Bloke walks into jewelers and slams his dick on the counter.
"This is a clock shop, not a cock shop!"
"Well put some hands on that then" he chirps...
Thank god its Friday

Dr. Caber MPsych.
what a sad thing to do with your time.
Ive just seen the snazzy little cutter where he can take the heads off the matches. This raises some questions.
1. What does he do with the heads?
2. Why doesnt he just approach the company and ask for a million sticks in a bag? Surely there must be a saving to be had.
putting aside the point of the whole thing.
He has done a remarkably good job of it.
Totally barking but sort of brilliant at the same time - a bit like some of our cars really
Those sand models are amazing. I was in awe watching some guys doing them in Alcudia last year. Quite a talent.
Dont you think if some people put their minds to jobs that were more productive they could be rich in no time.
I remembera while back that some lads got nicked not far from where i live for stripping a stolen land rover (well a few actually) under a bridge, in
the dark with basic tools in only a few hours. They were stripped so much it was hard to initially ID what sort of vehicles they were. And we are
talking about stripped properly so panels etc could be sold on. If they worked for a main dealer they could probs treble the weekly output of the body
shop. Some people are just so indurstrious and talented beyond belief - and yet to most give the impression of just wasting their life.
Errr, I bet there's an 'Making F1 Cars out of Matchsticks' forum, that's probably had the same debate surrounding our anal
obsessiveness for kit cars
I think you all being a bit hard on the guy.
Ok so it's no many peoples cup of tea but it's his hobby and quite an achievement. Most folk who wrote the slagging comments on that website
I bet spend most of their time in front of the telly and in the pub.
It’s a work of art and just as valid and worthwhile as any sculpture.
