Opening up an I_Pod nino

Opps dropped my beloved i-pod in the sea whilst down the beach with the dogs. I managed to find some fresh water and rinsed it though it's still full of water. Seems quite happy running underwater but I want to dry it out.

Prob is I don't see how it opens, there are no screws or any obvious way inside. Any ideas???? It's the original squarer design.

I would think that if water can get in then water vapour can get out. If it were me i would leave it overnight on a warm radiator and see if the water evaporates. If the rad is too hot then put a towel on the rad 1st.

iPods are pretty robust so fingers crossed it will be ok for a while but i would expect the salt to eat away at the innards!

This morning I spilt coffee over myself, so I emptied my pockets (I thought) and passed everything over to my wife to feed them into the washing machine.

10 minutes later there's a loud cry from the kitchen - my wife had seen my mobile phone rattling round in the machine!

Don't think that a night on the radiator's going to fix that...

The case is a click together design so you need to find something non metallic to pop the case apart. probably worth doing as corrosion on the circuit board will kill it sooner rather than later!

I have just opened mine open right now (the screen had cracked so I thought I might as well give it a go).

I used an old fashioned compass with a long tip to prise an opening near the headphone jack.

I didn't leave a noticeable mark, but it can be done pretty easily.

I then just prised it open along the length of the iPod and it came apart easily, no broken clips

Could try take it down the local Carphone Warehouse or similar and ask if they will dry it out in one of their phone ovens??

Well, mine still worked.

Me and my mate got back from greenlaning totaly frozen and mudded up, stipped off in the kitchen and washed the lot. Bar the camera luckly.
- I then couldnt find my phone, and presumed i'd droped it greenlaning. Found it three days later and after a bit of a charge it worked fine for everything. Although the backlight stuck on a little bit, ruining battery lift. Still used it for a week charging it everynight, untill i got a new one.

I think if i had found it stright away, rinsed it fully, it might have been better.

The same phone made a total recovery from being submersed in snakebite and black. Rinsed. And dried.

Nokia bricks for you. 6210i I think.
