Last night some thieving scumbags tried to nick my trailer. Luckily for me they didn't get it thanks to a hitch lock.
The problem is it's at my work and the scumbags broke the gate and nicked the lock so my boss is not to happy about me leaving it there
now
So a new lock has cost £30 and the lads have got to fix the gate and we need 8 keys cutting for the new lock
The good news is it's now tucked away safely and the firm next door have got it on cctv. 
They must work hard during the day, seen as it was at 4.00am when they tried to nick it.
connect it to the mains at night
Thieving gits, lucky they didn't get it this time, cover the hitch etc. that its manhandled by in grease, then if they try again hopefully
they'll ruin their designer jeans and hoodies....

I got threaten with court action by the local plod when he found out what I had in store for the next tresspassers who happened to be walking through
my garage at night.......
I find that taking a wheel off the trailer is a very good deterrent. For me, it's quicker to whip a wheel off rather than faff about with the
stupid wheel clamp I bought!!

i trip wire and water should do the trick this time of year. Wont harm but will leave them very cold indeed.
There is an estate near us that has just been praised by local police etc for installing a smart water system in all the houses as part of the alarm
system.

I've always wanted to make my own alarm system which consists of strobe lighting/flashing, smoke, and some very very loud black/death metal
(gorguts, negura bunget, kult ov azazel, vital remains etc)

There is a large old school building which I pass on the way into work that still has all the lights on at night. As a tax payer you and I are paying
for this. What is the reason?
So that if anyone breaks in at night, falls and injures themselves, they can't claim against the council for lack of illumination....
My school is currently being demolished piece by piece and rebuilt on the same grounds. Because of totally incompetent planning and space allocation
they have had to temporarily build a part of the school in another place which wasn't the original or final location so that classes can still
receive an education. Farce

My garage has a pair of big doors and a smaller door to the side. The big doors are bolted toger and secured to the frame and floor in several places
from the inside. The little door is cut into the wall about 18" from the ground and only about 40" tall. The easiest way to get into the
garage is through the little door.
I had an old steel school locker laid on its back just under the little door. It had the front edge of the door trimmed and little 'teeth cut
along its edge and then the door was pushed past the closing edge. Effectively, when your weight was on the door, your foot went into the locker but
you wereanble to pull it out easily. As the door was pushed, it switched on an electric fence transformer which was connected to the steel of the
locker and a piece of scaffold tube bolted to the wall just inside the door so when your foot went through the locker door, you grabbed the pole to
get your balance.
The bit that upset mr plod was the block and tacle set that swung down at head height when the locker trapdoor was stepped on.
So, you bash my little door down and step into my bear trap which bites your leg. You then grab an electric pole to make your squeak and then you get
hit in the face with a big pile of pulleys and chains to make you quiet.
My argument when confronted by Mr Plod (and accompanying CSO gimp) was that as far as I'm concerned, criminals leave the law at the gate when
they come into my property. He gave me an official warning....D'OH!
I sell trailers and yesterday i got offered a second hand Ifor Williams dropside flat, the guy left it with me to have a good look around and i took
his phone number and details.
I checked the VIN and the model number with Ifors on the phone and they confirmed that the VIN does not correspond with the model number and advised
me not to buy it.
I called the guy and told him i was not interested but straight after he left i called the cops and gave his details etc.
Its good for me when trailers get nicked from a business point of view because i sell more replacement ones but its not nice to have them recirculated
and passed back to you!
I quoted for 3 replacement trailers today all that were nicked this week by a roving champagne coloured Isuzu trooper.
Hitch locks are the way to go short of taking the wheels off.
Whilst I agree a hitch lock can be a deterrent IMHO one or even two wheel clamps are better, (two on a twin axle) if they want a trailer/caravan away
a hitch lock does nothing, chain the trailer on and gone complete with hitch lock, unless its hitch locked onto a ball on a post.
If its a twin axle and you don't put two wheel clamps on make sure its on the rear axle, otherwise the front one can be lifted clear of the
ground and still towed away.

I have heard similar things from the plod, but it was for a friend of a friend who was tragically run over on his way to work by a drunk. The parents asked the police what they could do as the blokes lawyer got him off near scot free, and were told sorry we can't help you, but whilst you're here, don't look too hard at this piece of paper with a random address on it whilst I go get a coffee...... The rest I'm sure anyone can make up, but suffice to say it ended with the parents getting charged with gbh.
Ive heard similar stories. Most Police are just normal people doing a job. of course they cant condole taking law into your hands but recognise when some wrong doing has been done. I have a lot of respect for the Police. Its often been on my mind to join them, just wish id thought of it sooner.

i had typed up a long post but thought the better of it due to big brother watching (you would be surprised the job now monitor facebook etc after a
few embarrassing incidents) but if you are a bad guy and come across mr nasty home owner whilst out on the knock and get 7 shades kicked out of you
then tuff what do you expect human rights well sorry you left your rights at the front gate
