We are looking for an equivalent glue to make the hover craft skirts. The glue is HH66 vinyl cement in USA which is restricted shipping due to the nature of this product.

So we are looking for a product available in Blighty that can glue skirts

What type of skirt are you making, and what material is it...


We did some experimenting with gluing hovercraft skirts on light hovercraft and it didnt work so well...

You either had to sew, or use a microwave hot weld technique on the neoprene coated nylon...


I tell you, sewing 250 skirt finger pockets is NOT fun!

They send the glue if you live in usa but wont send it if your in blighty.......hot weld is a good idea as its vinyl that they use

I would just sew the skirt instead of gluing it...

I have seen their plans........Shocking...the actual quality of the plans is a bit bad, and the final product leaves a lot to be desired.....

I build this...powered by a subaru boxer engine instead....Linky clicky thing

If I were going to do it again, I would be quite tempted by the sevtec craft....ideal for serious cruising...

Its a shame really...I was put off by the arogance of some of the memebers of the hovercraft club, so sold it shortly after completing it

i used pva
granted that was on a model with a shower curtain skirt but worked a treat for me

My workmate has bought the bits from them but its all still in America at his brothers house.
We will use it as a base and improve on it so thats not really the problem. Sewing is my preffered way.
Just looking on the hover forums and they seem to have a fair share of trolls with little man problem little man problem link


We have loads of space on our beaches locally so a craft will be built.

I'd contact the tech dept of Unibond, Loctite, Araldite or similar. Their techies are normally pretty helpful on something as interesting (as opposed the more more usual inane queries about how to unstick fingers, tongues or whatever stuck whilst using super-glue). Cheers, Pewe

Just a thought, they make glue for repairing "rubber" dingys, there are two differing types of material used in there construction, neoprene being one, cant remember the other. Maybe worth trying some of that, it certainly sticks well in repairs. HTH Ray
