I'm updating my mobile phone but..... it appears clamshells have gone out of fashion....

So- does anyone know of a mobile where you can "de-activate" the touch sensitive screen or front buttons until you open it using the sliding mechanism? I used to have a non clam-shell but I used to keep it in my trouser pocket and I got fed up with my genitals ringing people, answering calls, cutting people off etc....

I've heard the LG chocolate touch sensitive screen is a bit of a pain because if you hold the phone against your face it cuts you off!!!

I have an O2 XDA Orbit which does a multitude of things. Syncs with Outlook and other windows software. Great for keeping contacts, tasks and appointments up to date. Has built in gps, touch screen and a lot more besides, Wi-fi bluetooth to name a few.

Supose it depends what you want a phone to do, i bought this because i was fedup with different chargers for everything, gps receiver etc.

most slidey phones lock the key pad when they close, and/or have a automatic keylock if you don't press buttons for 30secs or so

Just got myself a Nokia 6300 from O2 Pay & Go. Well pleased. 2M camera with zoom, MP3, RDS radio. Stainless steel case. Very user friendly.

My wife has a Nokia 5310 that has the similar functions as the 6300 but with more memory and bells and whistle, nicely engineered as well. Again very easy to use.

another vote for the 6300 - my dad just got one as his free upgrade - just turn the automatic keyguard on

you should be able to get it free on most contracts - its a cheap and chearful ordiary phone, but with the 2M camera and MP3 / FM thrown in and it can take upto a 2Gb memory card (micro SD 2Gb <£15)

Cool. Looks like it might be a 6300 then
Thanks for the info on the Viety thing- I was tempted by that one....

Cheers!!!
