er, seriously though. for some reason i've never trusted the places that sell them, but the prices seem so cheap, i can get 2 good tyres for the price of one alright one

I'd definitely buy part worn tyres provided I could look and examine them beforehand, otherwise I'd probably steer clear.

Depends on the type of tyre and the use they have been put to.

I have some part worn yokohama A-021Rs here. The owner does a little running every year and puts a new set on every spring.
Used 185/60 x 13 and 205/60 x 13
£15 each.

Those are worth having at that price IMHO. Especially becuase I know where they've been and how much life there is in them.

mine are 235/40 ZR 17, and i can't afford 2 tyres together. i was going to get one of the cheapest tyres i can get (i've only got 1 illegal one...) for now, but thought i may as well get 2 part worn ones of decent quality. but i don't know...

I hav'nt bought a new tyre for the last 20 odd years

I allways manage to land on my feet & find almost new ones at the breakers.

More often than not. Top Brand.

Part worn from a dealer !!??. Probably not. I'd go the budget route.

ive bought far more part worns than new, infact ive only had 7 new tyres over 55 cars! Pay close attention to the tread, theres no point paying half price for half life! You cant really beat £20 a corner though.

the cars a BMW 328, its got nangkang tyres on it bought by the previous owner, which i've discovered are summer tyres. explains why the cars hopeless in any weather except dry

i'd rather by good tyres (my old bmw had goodyear all round and was the best car to drive in all weather) and part worn seems the best way to get good tyres on

most part worns come from right offs i wouldnt touch them

This is one of the 15 quid Yokohamas. Having said that, I managed to buy brand new A539s last year for 25 each, although those were 15" ones.

Some Part worns come into the uk from germany as their min tread depth is higher than ours (4mm), but I would'nt go near them.

Be careful. The tread may look ok but you can't really tell how they have been treated. If the tyre has had a good wack on a kerb it may damage it without visual signs until it gives out a speed.

I have found and am using tyres from a place that has them all stamped up, round yellow stamp on the side wall, so checked to proper standards, guranteed and most are almost new.
Now i put them on my desiel work car and my Galaxy (1/3rd the price of new) but i dont thrash them to much.
The kit car gets the luxury of new.

I,ve never purchased a second hand car without it coming with second hand tyres.

Why worry, I only buy new when forced into it.

Where can you get part worn tyres fitted. My toy has Yoko A032's n and I was thinking of taking them off, getting something for this time of year and then re-fitting them for the summer, but nobody round Newark will fit part worn tyres.

i used to get part worn tyres no problems at all
now i use a local breakers yard for tyres and they collect up a set over time of new spare tyres from damaged cars and at only 60 quid a set
