ali or steel angle
Dunno if this is the right place for this post, but here goes.
I need to make two new radiator mounts.
Does anybody know if B&Q still sell 1" x 1" ali angle?
Alternatively has anybody got about 6" of 1" x 1" steel angle floating about in exchange for beer tokens
They do sell the ali angle but it's a bit weedy.
You could try it though, it doesn't cost much, or you could just get some steel angle and paint it.

I was in B&Q this morning buying some ali angle! They've only got the thin stuff, about 1mm thick - I wouldn't use it for anything
structural. Also, the rad's a bit heavy so if your ali's not hefty enough it will bounce around and the metal would fail due to fatigue.
Their steel angle is quite substantial, although it isn't the finest quality by any means. It's also black steel rather than bright, which
means that it has scale on the surface and the edges will be a little rounded. Still very usable though.

I have some odd bits of ally angle. I think it's about 40mm. If you want to try that, U2U me your address and I'll post some
I got some of the thin ali angle from Wickes last weekend - it was a fair bit cheaper than the B&Q warehouse next door. Think it was around £4 for
a 2m length.
Still - not substantial enough for a radiator mounting bracket.
B&Q ally is a bit brittle too. Use a bit of steel - it'll only amount to 1/2 lb if you're very generous

Why don't you get a couple of brackets from a plumbers merchants as they are made for the job and don't cost much.
