quick bit of advise please

long story short took a ford focus as a p/x a couple of weeks ago i havn't registered it in my name and sold it buyer knows it isn't in my name and is happy to buy it i hpi'd it and the lad who is buying it has also hpi'd it no problems he wants to collect it later but wants a copy of my driving licence or passport as proof of who i am thinking about it i'm not happy to let him copy my details and not sure what to do i'm more than happy to prove who i am but what can i do

yes copy them but cover the numbers up

I wouldnt give him a copy of my driving licence or passport either!! Got to ask why he wants a physical copy - surely viewing your photo licence should be proof enough that you are who you say you are!!

No copys from me either, just flash him your passport and he obviouly know where you live.
You could also show him your own cars reg document to see that the address and name are together.

i'd let him have a copy but with some details covered up.

From his perspective, if you turned out to be a wrong un - he'd have proof to show the police that he took reasonable precautions etc.

Yeah, you're at an address, you could be renting and move tomorrow, could be your mates house & your house sitting etc etc.

Ask to see his driving licence as proof of who he is/where he lives. IIRC the new type registration docs asks for driving licence number when transferring ownership ? Make sure you notify Swansea of details of new owner, possibly by registered mail? Cover your arse !

thanks for advise guys explained i wasn't happy to give him a copy of my details showed him so he could see i was genuine and fortunitly he was happy with that so all good now thanks
