Please could members not post 'I think its too cheap' 'thats got to be worth £X+more' on ads in the for sale section.

You've just go and make the owner pull the advert and put the price up!!!

If your not buying then refrain, let the bargain go...Please

Surely if someone posts an item at any given price, then it there responsibility to set the price right first time. I'm inclined to agree with onzarob. This isn't an auction site, its an oppurtunity for people to sell stuff to fellow users, and if its cheap then all the better.
Just my 2p. Ready for fireworks now though

People in this community don't deserve to get ripped off, but there is a difference between being ripped off and two people coming out of a sale happy...

don't know, sometimes I think folk loose heart and just put a stupid value on stuff cos they want rid off it and later they will regret it. Surely it’s only far in that case to point it out to them or rather persuade them to not give up?

Isn't that the reason any of us get a bargain?

Say if every owner of a sierra was encouraged to raise the price because they are valuable to the right people.....no locost donors

I say if that the price they want then pay them and enjoy.


On the the other hand if your asked how much it is worth. Say how much it is worth, not under value it to get a bargain.

hmmm, dunno ... but think if folks want to comment on the rpice, be it too high or too low then they should be alowed to.

but if a buyer agrees buy at the posted price, the seller should agree ... but fcourse the deal is not complete until money changes hands. gazumping happens all the time.

if anyone is unsure about what price to ask, then they should do so and people reponding should give an honest appraisal, obvioulsy if one is interested in the item, one can under value it but it is the seller who decides what price to advertise at.

Still think the for sale section is for selling things at the listed price. I agree no one wants to be ripped off, and no one wants to sell something that potentially they could get more money for. Also agree with the honest appraisals, as people on here are on the whole good honest and trustworthy people and thats one reason i like it here! But if its an appraisal and a whats it worth question, its not a question for the for sale section.

Agree with some of the above - if people want a value on say a car for guidance then thats fair enough.....but surely only if asked!!

Are you doing someone a favour when they have already advertised something for sale at a price they believe to be right telling them its worth far more?? Personally i think you could well cost them a sale and what if you get it wrong and over-value an item?? They will either end up stuck with it or cost them time.

Personally i'd say keep any comments about price to yourself unless advice is requested - and that request shouldnt be in a For Sale thread but done seperately. As mentioned it isnt an auction and i'd hate to see this site end up turning into one with gazumping going on between members. I sold a KOSO RX1N dash yesterday and could have sold it 3 times in a couple of hours. I felt it was a fair price but am sure i could have got a few quid more if i had been willing to do so - but to my mind its only fair to sell to the first offer.

Well that did get me a little, I personally am not in the market.

But no one has seen the car, form the discription the pictures are NOT recent and no one knows how much the seller paid for it.

So how can you say its worth more from pictures alone, you can't.

It just makes it harder for a prespective buyer to haggle if the owner now thinks it worth more. A good buyer will pay the full amount if he already thinks its a bargain IMO.

PS I am going to build my own car so no direct interest

Not quite the same I know, but in the same bracket.
I particularly don't like the "Bargains Elsewhere" and the posts along the lines of "Hey 5000 Locostbuilders, look at this bargain of a Locost part on E-bay" why don't you all bid on it so nobody gets a bargain
Unless of course it is you're own sale, then fair play, but otherwise NO!
