Political Correctness - GONE TOO FAR AGAIN - The Red Arrows

I trust this will be of interest to you all.

The world-famous Red Arrows have been banned from appearing at the 2012 London Olympics because they are deemed "too British".

Organizers of the event say that the Arrows military background might be "offensive" to other countries taking part in the Games. The display team has performed at more than 4000 events worldwide, but the Department of Culture, Media and Sport have deemed the display team "too militaristically British". Red Arrows pilots were said to be "outraged", as they had hoped to put on a truly world class display for the Games, something which had never been seen before. Being axed from a British-based event for being "too British" is an insult - the Arrows are a symbol of Britain the Red Arrows have been excellent ambassadors for British overseas trade, as they display their British-built Hawk aircraft all over the world. The Arrows performed a short flypast in 2005 when the winning bid was announced, but their flypast at the Games was to have been truly spectacular. It is to be hoped that common sense prevails. If you disagree with this decision, please sign the petition on the link below:

Didn't I read this on here before, some months ago? Wasn't the petition refuted by the PM saying that it wasn't true?

I used to read the Sun to make myself angry about this kind of thing. Now all I have to do is visit this website to get the old blood pressure up!

Not sure how valid the ptetion is, i did read some time ago that the red arrows may or may not be involved with the games. Although i also heard they were to loose red and blue smoke to save money, it just wouldnt be the same would it

This petition Bo||ocks. The number of these petitions that are utter rubbish or based on completely inaccurate 'facts' just astounds me.

Yeah, but here there's no page three...

It was the Sun that started this rumour with it's usual blend of poor journalism and made-up quotes, then probably tried to make out that it had changed the Government's minds when they later annouced that in all probability the Red Arrow would be performing.

The vast majority or these 'political correctness gone mad' stories are completely false. For some reason people remember them all as being true though and are then not surprised each time they read a new one. I guess it's just the British way - loving news that's bad

i saw them out practising yesterday near market rasen! would be a shame not to have them there as they truly do look amazing when in formation and all the smoke etc!

That petition is BS. It's based upon nothing but gossip and rumour.... It's never been suggested that the Red Arrows wouldn't perform- actually rather like it's never been an EU directive that bananas have to be straight....

Urban myth...
