HI looking for a freeview box any one recommend a good make / model
Jacko
Just recently got a Humax thingy that can record 2 tv programmes to hard drive and play back a previously recorded prog at the same time. It has all
the usual Freeview channels and has pause tv to boot. Prices vary from £154 to £199. Wouldn't be without it now! Hope this helps.

dont buy a thomson i have 1 and its po
o
Aldi, if they still have them in £19.
Dont get a cheapy. Unless your signal reception is really strong you wong get all that you should get. Iv got a philips on. Picks up everything. even surprised the arial bloke when he came to fit my freeveiw arial.

there doing a PVR (freeview box with hardrive recorder) for anywhere from £10 up to £120
I got a £10 one and its wicked and sooooo cheap
with regards to not buying a cheapy - we brought a logik, which you can buy cheap in dixons etc - and its alot better than the freeview in my Samsung
lcd telly.
its very forgiving in terms of signal, and will prob display a picture when most others will say "no signal".
i think it was the LDR1 model.
mine's an ultra cheapy one with no brand on it, was from tesco. It's actually quite good I think, though I have nothing to compare it to
except sky/ntl.
Those new jobs with the hard disk look good mind.
Does anyone have the Asda jobbie? Any good?
Thought about sky freesat? Get an old sky box and dish off fleabay and a £20 freesat card from sky. DIY install - much better picture than any
freeview reception.
EDIT: B&Q now do the complete kit for £99. Ideal for picking up foriegn football and German p0rn. So I'm told.

Freeview boxes need a clean (reflection free) signal, strength of signal isn't that important, in fact with some boxes too strong a signal can
cause problems, the only way I could get one of the first Pace set top boxes was to fit an 50db attenuator to reduce the signal strength.
If you get ghosting on analogue this is due to reflections and you either need a new aerial or move the existing one.
Cheap boxes are generally OK BUT the electronic program guide tends to to be less easy to use than the more expensive boxes. Don't bother
looking for one with a Top-Up Tv slot.
The best solutionis a d igital telly and a Freview pvr
You need a clear line of sight to the transmitter with no trees, buildings or hills for digital reception, distance is not a problem though. Use a
shielded coaxial cable with no joins between the aerial and set and don't run the box on the same circuit as the fridge or washing machine. Just
plug it into your present aerial and try it though, it might work perfectly. Most of the cheap boxes are perfectly good but PVRs are for recording and
will only record from their internal tuner so if you get a twin tuner box you will be able to watch one and record another channel.
We can't get digital according to the checker Here but we've been receiving it since the OnDigital
days via Emley Moor transmitter.
