What do you think of this front axle design. Its from a hotrod scratch build, excellent build too have a look hereand
follow the ford 34 build. The brass bit in the middle is a bush so that each side can rotate independently but if you see it has hairpins on each
side. To me that means that if the axle twists then its working against the hairpins or am I missing summat.

Hhmmm... I can think of a few disadvantages but I'm not sure I see any advantage? To what problem is this a solution?
Hot Rod heaven, over complicated five link beam axle. Can see several area's where that could be improved. Tried to post the picture, with no luck, wierd!! Ray
In the words of Madge Simpson hmmmm
Without saying too much the design of the panhard link and suspension pushrod mountings on to the axle might just about work on a pedal car.
The bronze trunnion thing in the middle of the axle might be US sprint/dirt track car standard practice --- somebody on here might be able to
confirm or correct me on this.
I think its a pure custom thing. They builders' own a custom building workshop. The idea behind it is to maintain some kind of originality that the car once had. Things do seem a little over complicated around the front but that axle seems to be working against the hairpins I just dont get it. The hairpins would make the upright rise up and down in an arc whilst the front axle would be, well the upright would be trying to twist against each bar on the hairpin. Very odd.
