ARRGGHHHHH.
A long time ago IrvineD bought a pedal box from the old Luego boys. I thought he'd paid a fortune for the gold package with all the bits
included. I was going to source all the bits myself and save a good few pounds.
Well IrvineD has been on the road for probably a year now. Where as i've just finished hacking the cheap pedal box i bought from a competitor of
Luego's apart cause it was rubbish. I won't mention names as they're no longer supplying parts but i'm rather miffed i've
lost the whole day plus a couple of evenings due to saving a few pounds.
They'd drilled the master cylinder mountings so close together that the balance bar couldn't fit between them (nor could it fit in the pedal
as the distance between the mountings and the pedal tube where slightly different.
Took me ages to realise that one master cylinder was offset towards the brake pedal compared to the other.
(sorry just wanted to whine, now off to fit the clutch pedal and i might finally feel like i've made some progress.)
You know, that raises a very good point. The big advantage you have over in the UK is the choice of makers with compatible parts. Here in Canada there
is basically Westfield from the States, and all others are jerry-rigged setups because nothing is meant to go with anything else.
Now I know, but at the time of my kit purchase, Westfield didn't have a North American distributor. You can even buy pallet donors from the US
based guys.
And no, I'm not yet on the road either. I needed a specialist garage to help me (which I am very grateful for, even though it cost a few bucks -
well, more than a few!).
RK, how is your progress going? I know you were close to throwing in the towel at one point, so I'm really pleased to hear you have stuck at it!
