Richard Petty driving experience?

Anyone done one the Richard Petty driving "experience" days in Vegas? Couple of laps in a NASCAR but not sure if it's really worth dragging our lass out there for half a day? Don't want to turn up and be taken for a half arsed spin by some mechanic?

We had a look at it when in Florida last year, at the Disney RAceway. VERY expensive for VERY LITTLE track time. Decided against it.

Riding shotgun for a few(3) laps doesn't seem worth it, howver, they also offer you the chance to drive it yourself for more money, from memory it's £275 approx for 8 laps wiith you behind the wheel following another car to show you the lines. I suppose that if you bin it into the wall £275 doesn't quite cover it. It's a judgement call on your part, £75 to say you've been in a NASCAR.

I did the Richard Petty experience a couple of years ago and had a brilliant day. We went to Daytona Speedway, had a tour of the circuit, behind the scenes, pits and commentary box etc. A trip around the museum, three laps of the speedway at an average speed of 150mph. A tee shirt and a certificate. Really good day out for the wife, kids and me. Then we drove along the beach in the evening and had a picnic and swim.

What's-his-face from 5th gear did it a few weeks ago - he seemed to enjoy it, and enthused about how fast he was allowed to go. He did say that the car was pretty much up to racing spec.

Tiffany Dell - that was who did it...
