Messing about with the battery on my runabout Escort I now have a radio which refuses to switch on now, asking for a code
I haven't a clue what to do next - any ideas?

Written in the original handbook Raz, normally on a small card?

If not known Ford will be able to give you the code - assuming it's the headunit fitted to the car when supplied new?!

If none of those...Get the code from it via a decoder radio type person! About £15 these days?

If you havent got the code written down then you could get in touch with the local Fraud dealer and ask them for it.

On two Escorts I've had, well one mine and one from my then job the code's been written on the top of the head unit!

Had the same problem, took radio out and the previous owner had written the code on the radio case.
No idea why but saved me a load of bother.

I have a little program that will generate your code from the serial number for certain types of Ford radio ('M' series). U2U the serial and I'll see what I can do.

Alternatively the code generators are freely available on the web and a google search should sort you out.

(The fact that such a generator is possible defeats the entire object of the code!)

Thanks for all the input guys.

I just looked inside the users manual and found a card with the code written on it - all sorted now!

Go on then don't keep us in suspense what was the code.

PS only joking.
