theconrodkid - 17/4/08 at 05:10 PM

my co have a truck working on a building site, its been there for about 2 months now,the new houses have been springing up all over the site.
i popped down there today and wandered down to where the truck is parked, the roadway that led to the truck seemed a bit narrow so i got the tape measure out and measured the gap, then we measured the width of the truck.
you can guess the outcome

ruskino80 - 17/4/08 at 05:18 PM

brilliant

mookaloid - 17/4/08 at 05:21 PM

mmmmmmm we will be interested to hear how that one goes

blakep82 - 17/4/08 at 05:44 PM

the road is actually twice as wide as it looks? no?

(why is there no laughing smiley on here?)

iank - 17/4/08 at 05:44 PM

Wonder how much Russ Swift will charge to get it out?

blakep82 - 17/4/08 at 05:48 PM

you've been building cars, surely stripping a truck and rebuilding it should be easy enough?

SierraL_killer - 17/4/08 at 06:10 PM

Got any cranes still on site??

Guinness - 17/4/08 at 06:13 PM

I know a house builder that built an entire estate of houses with garages so small you had to climb out the boot / sunroof to get out.

Can you tunnel out?!

Cheers

Mike

theconrodkid - 17/4/08 at 06:17 PM

re the garage, when i moved into my place,i drove an alfa sud into the garage and had to climb out of the window, and i only weigh 3 stone after a good brecky

coozer - 17/4/08 at 06:29 PM

blakep82 - 17/4/08 at 06:31 PM

how much too wide is the truck?

theconrodkid - 17/4/08 at 07:21 PM

its an interference fit of +6 inches

Dangle_kt - 17/4/08 at 07:29 PM

D'OH!

brynhamlet - 17/4/08 at 08:04 PM

I worked on a job where we had to get 10ft wide containers down an 8ft wide road.

Sky hook was the answer, i.e. RAF Chinnok, only joking

if only it were possible with a chinook!

a tatra 813 has an unladen weight of 14tonnes, a chinook can only lift 12470kg

sikorsky sea stallion it is then

i really can't help but chuckle at the scale of the problem.

NS Dev - 17/4/08 at 08:23 PM

surely not a problem, the tatra will drive clean through the house without any problem surely!!!

The fella I was on about HAS bought one now, reckons he can get it road reg. though goodness knows how, but even with a lot of work reckons its cheaper than a JCB fastrac for the work he's using it for!!????

DIY Si - 17/4/08 at 08:28 PM

What you need is a work experience lad! Give him the keys and tell him to just bring the truck around the front. That should either get it out via a field, or take a large chunk of house out.

theconrodkid - 17/4/08 at 08:30 PM

let me know how he gets on Nat,could be handy if we do get it out

caber - 17/4/08 at 10:16 PM

Leave it in one of the gardens plant the back out with some nice plants and charge them extra for a mobile garden feature

Doh!! What a mess.

- Any photos of the thing in question?

DorsetStrider - 18/4/08 at 12:57 AM

Dammit i'm PMSL here.

Please can you provide us with some piccies? If nothing else it'll give the rest of us a giggle.

Who know's if we can see the problem maybe some bright spark'll come up with a solution that doesn't involve NATO.

theconrodkid - 18/4/08 at 05:13 AM

i dont work at that site so have no pics, ill see if someone can when they go to extract it,as suggested above, its green and would look nice with some window boxes

David Jenkins - 18/4/08 at 08:36 AM

DorsetStrider - 18/4/08 at 12:18 PM
