Has anyone a good (remember we are Locost Builders) source for roll cage padding?
It needs to be pretty durable and be able to accept a bit of punishment including a regular jet washing as it is going on my Drakart buggy!
Thanks in advance.

zip tie on some pipe lagging. It looks exactly like MX bar pad material, so if it works for a bar pad, it will work for a chassis rail, not sure on what the bigger sizes look like, but worth a look see.

heard the reference to locost and gave you the cheapest option.
You could of course get jackets made up for the foam - just like an MX bar pad, a peice of coloured plastic about 6 inches wide with a strip of
velcro. not sure on cost as it would be bespoke for your bends etc.
I used pipe lagging, the densest stuff i could find. It doesn't stretch all the wayaround normal roll bar tube so i cut another piece in half
along its length to fill the gap and wrapped it tightly with duct tape. Holds well and fairly durable. Not sure it'll take close up jet-wash
action though.
Not the tidiest thing in the world and i dont suppose it'll absorb impacts overly well but it prevents damage to helmets from the occasional
bumps and keeps the scruits happy.

If you want it to protect in a bad off where you're helmet is bouncing off it DON'T use pipe lagging it's far too soft and isn't
fireproof (afaik)
The proper stuff goes for £5-£25 a metre.

Heat shrink tubing to cover the padding?
You can get it up to 100mm dia. and a shrink ratio of up to 6:1 these days.
