Today i got to work and there was an email.

The top 20 users will be interviewed to see what they are using the internet for

i was informed that i was just out side the top 20 so that means that i can no longer access this site during working hours. i'm also very limited with access at home.

Yep, we have that too.
I use the net all the time, but it's genuinely work based. And Locostbuilders is blacklisted via websense.

A large company asked us to create a piece of software for finding out email abusers. Within 5 minutes we'd uncovered two affairs! One was a director! Arf.

Oh dear sorry to here that

I just leave the net on all the time at work, hell its broad band! isn't why they invented it, so you don't have to worry about cost???

Personally if I was treated like that I'd just walk out the door straight into another job taking all their dirty little secrets with me, you'd be shocked at how bad some companies are doing when you get past the glossy brochure some are just horror stories

I use the web at work to have a break especially when I'm really busy or struggling with something as it helps to clear my head and come up with solutions other wise I'd drink them out of coffee

Actually his reminds me of one place I worked a small company and one IT guy who use to come in really early before everyone else. Then one of the girls said she was sure her e-mail had been read even though she had not opened it. Well next we started sending each other e-mails slagging this IT guy to bits calling him all sorts

Then he stopped speaking to us, I wonder why? nosey git.

I'm in the IT dept at my work and yet they have blocked me from accessing www.megasquirtmaps.com! apparently it is blocked by our external web filtering company for containing porn!!!!

fortunately they are not interested in my locostbuilders activity

As an aside... I very much doubt if the IT department has decided to check on your internet activity..they are usually far to busy with 'real' work.. i would think it far more likely this has come down from management worried about user productivity.....

I worked in a financial organisation in London a while back. They had some filter in place that detected incoming pictures and flagged up any larger-than-usual amounts of flesh tones (). They couldn't see what the pictures contained though (or chose not to). No-one believed it worked until one of the bosses was sent some pictures of his newly-born grandson...

Imagine the IT man trying to ask the boss why he was receiving porno pictures... and the embarrassment that ensued.
