"Her indoors" has suggested that we should like to buy a "Motorhome".(sounds OK by me)
She has spent most of this evening looking at various websites.
Has anyone any ideas of insurance costs, can they be insured for limited miles ? was thinking of fully comp when in use and Third party, fire and theft
when stored.
Regards
Mike
No idea on costs etc but my father was looking at Adrian Flux for the same (for when he eventually buys one) - they are obviously well known for
kitcar insurance so worth a call??

Hi Paul.
Had thought of giving Gott and Wynn (who I,ve got my Tiger ins with) a ring in the morning.
As Chester sports cars dont seem to have any open days,it might be worth arranging a meet sometime?
Regards
Mike
I use Safeguard based in Leeds, part of Swinton, 0800 977 5953. Been with them now for 8 years. Cheaper than Caravan Club & better cover. Includes breakdown & recovery plus european cover. Would expect it to cost £250 - £500 dependant upon you, other drivers, vehicle age and value, alarms fitted (eg we have Thatcham Cat 1 that helps) etc. Maybe cheaper if you can restrict mileage & drivers. Not sure about your split of fully comp & third party - but why not use it in the winter! Most are quite capable of all year round use provided you are not travelling in snow & we don't get much of that these days!!! Do a google search on motorhome insurance and you'll find plenty.

Hi
I used SAGA...
good rates, and unlimited Europe use.
Mind you I am an old b*****er
Quite reasonable to insure, very often on limited mileage policies. My Dad has one which he has insured with SAGA in the past, trouble was he
couldn't add anyone under the age of 50 to drive it.
His motorhome is now for sale if you are interested - a Swift Kontiki 6 berth, great condition etc. Are you tempted yet! Seriously, I think he wants
about £14k for it so if it fits what you want let me know. Trouble is if it is sold before mid July we are in a tent at the LeMans classic this year.
I have a self-built motorhome and got mine insured through a specialist broker from the self build site.
As you are doig the sensible thing and buying a pre-built one I would wait till no one was looking and grab motor caravan monthly of the shelf in WH
Smiths and get some quotes from the specialist brokers in there.
A mate of mine has a US import and his worry was to ensure that his very large and bus sized windscreen would be covered and that he could get
european cover - so its worth shopping around.
On a buying front, if you don't mind lhd either (who are you going to overtake in a motorhome!) buying direct from europe can save a sigificant
amount and doesn't seem to impact on insurance costs
Hi have just done the round's with all the brokers and insurers ect. Sureterm where the cheapest and with the best package. Beat the next closest
quote by nearly £300.
Cheers Matt
