Arrgghh - want to scream so thought i'd vent here instead of the office.
Almost crashed coming to work. Have to take some responsibility cause i didn't drive defensively enough.
coming up to a mini roundabout, i saw a car coming the other way wanted to turn across my path. By the time it got to the give way line i'd be
well on the roundabout (abuot half way across) so i carried on going. The other drive completely ignored the rules for roundabouts and tried to
completely miss the roundabout and cut the junction.
Swerved and ended up kerbing the car. Damaged the alloy - its got a flat section on the rim where i hit. Car now seems to pull a little more to the
left and i'm sure there is notchyness in the steering. Had the car about 6 weeks
(
Any suggestions on where i can get a repair or second hand wheel????
rules of the road...hmm
I think someone on here said it best - 'Drive like everyone is trying to kill you', I think he was a biker.
mini round abouts are a menace, especially the painted spot ones, no body uses them and they are usually too small to navigate round anyway, why
councils use them so much is crazy, seen what happened to you loads of times.
Suggest ebay for your new alloy or the dealers (don't know what car it is).
I'm very wary on roundabouts these days - I can go round them so fast, but that doesn't 'fit into the model' that other drivers
have for cars. They can't comprehend that it is coming at them so fast.
Defensive driving means that I have to consider other drivers' view of the world - and a seven going full-tilt doesn't fit into that
view!
Now I'll only hammer around a roundabout if I have a 100% view all around and no-one else is coming onto it.
there's a mini round about on my way to work. My road is level, but the road that crosses it is fairly steep down hill. Cars coming down hill
regulary do 40 ( in a 30 zone) and make no effort to slow for the island. If you get to the island first and go straight on, there is a good chance
that a car coming down the hill might clip the back of your car. The drivers often make angry gestures if this happens, despite them being in the
wrong on 2 counts.
It is always better, but often more frustrating, to avoid an accident than to prove the other guy was in the wrong after one.
I pass through a mini roundabout every day, it used to be a T junction but was changed about 10 years ago. You just get a feel for the idiot who
thinks he has right of way to go straight on on what was the major road, and gives no regard to give way to traffic from the right.
Yes, a bikers view is that everyone could kill you, most car drivers are biker aware, apart from the numpties who sit half a car to the right in a
queue to stop bikes filtering, or pull out on roundabouts thinking the bike will come off worse.
Id check your suspension arms as i has somthing simlar happen to me and it bent them
Cars are too safe. People drive like they are invincible. 20 years ago we probably all knew people who'd stacked it and been hurt, but now there's little physical deterrent to driving like a twat, or worse being aggressive…
True - I drive my Locost like I used to ride a motorbike - always looking, aware of where I am and what people around me are doing.
My top speed is probably lower in my Locost than it is in my Yaris... cornering's a lot quicker though!
Driving like everyone else is a t1t is the only way to get anywhere these days, especially roundabouts etc. People just don't seem to understand
lane dicipline.
Prime example,
[this roundabout I use every day]. The left lane turns left, the middle lane goes to the left llane on the roundabout. The right
lane goes to the middle or right-lane on the roundabout as they split - it's common sense but the paint marks show this too so there can be no
dispute. I'm generally in the right lane to go straight on, so the 2nd lane on the roundabout. The amount of people who go from the 2nd entry
lane to the 2nd on the roundabout, nearly taking my nose off is uncountable. And when you give them the evils they have no idea what they've
done wrong!
[Another example here] is where there are 2 lanes which split onto 4 onto the roundabout. There are no markings so its
down to common sense, which tells you that 2 splits into 2 + 2. But you have to have your wits about you, because so many people come from the left
to lane 3 without even looking and just assume they aren't going to hit anyone!
All it takes is a little common sense...but that seems to be lacking, which gives ammo to the speed camera monkeys because it shows people can't
be trusted to judge safety
I've stated it once and I'll state it again... if you are crossing a white line you are negotiating a manouvere and as such have no right of
way.
There are no laws regarding roundabouts. What there are, are Guidelines.
Not much use if your dead cos some tw4t cut you up! But, you can rest in your grave assured that you were right. Driving defensively is the key!
When I approach a lorry ont motorway, I check the reg.plate - if it's foreign I give him a very wide birth. I cant remember how many cars
I've seen shunted due to the blackspots that LH drive lorries have!
Drive with care... always!

You absolutely right on right of way on roundabouts, if you cross over between lanes (like you should if you're in the right lane turning right
when you get to your exit) and there is some twat who came onto the roundabout in the left lane to turn right to, if he stays in the left lane the
whole way round and basically undercuts you, he STILL has right of way, cos you have to change lanes.
Loads of idiots do this and it drives me nuts - but usually I'm in the Beemer and can just drive round them .....

well the tracking was 1.5 degrees out and the wheel now has massive weights on it around where the ali is missing.
Very slight vibration now and seems to drive like it did before.
What annoys me is that about 3 days earlier i saw someone come from the left, not look and turn left on the mini roundabout coming inches to
completely smashing a little yaris to peices which was driving along with (in theory) right of way. Yesterday evening i saw a car full of people pull
out on a roundabout and am still amazed the mondeo doing 30+ didn't completely destroy it. Must just be may madness for roundabouts.
