anyone got a spare ford vr sensor i can purchase in the midlands area that i can pick up today?

Is there a local scrapyard near you? a sensor would be no more than a couple of quid and one from almost any ford will work.Why do you think it is faulty? they are normally very reliable .

scrappies round here are crap! one is incredibly expensive and the other only open for 5 days a week!

Halfords may have one also, but never tried them as i always get from the local scrappy.

i take it my offer is not of any use then?
