Hmm although I wish the Chinese all the best in their huge effort to improve the country I don't like the ethics of quite a lot of their products.

I think they have not learnt the lessons of their neighbours in that to get respect they should be producing only quality items rather than cheap and nasty.

These days’ Japanese products are viewed as being top quality and people are happy to spend more to get them. China appears to be going totally the wrong way and with so much borrowed could end up with the whole country bankrupt.

i'm quite happy with my Tag watch for £15 right enough, but yeah... i guess its ok if you know things are fake, but bearing and stuff, people are going to buy stuff like that thinking its the real thing, and a failure could end up more costly

So long as a product is dirt cheap, there won't be a shortage of punters. I heard recently that a top of the range Nokia phone has already been cloned!

They have learned from the best: Europeans (including most North Americans) have been screwing up the world a long time now. Why should "emerging economies" be any different?

There is a fake iPhone as well.

After seeing their incredible level of cruelty to animals we don't buy Chinese any more unless there is absolutely no option - also won't buy Korean because of how they prepare dogs for the table.

Now that IS scary.

MikeR - 7/5/08 at 05:11 PM

I have worked on the assumption that i'm going to a proper nut / bolt place to get mine so i'll be ok.

Sort of raises the question i don't want to ask "where do they get the nut / bolts from?"

JoelP - 7/5/08 at 05:20 PM

how about fake MCBs in your consumer unit that dont actually trip with overcurrent, its just a switch.

Its getting to be a dangerous power china.
