ok, on the 30th april i failed my driving test fair and square, so i rebook my test for the 14th of may, (one weeks time)
so i get a letter today saying that "due to unforseen circumstances we have had to cancel your test, a bit irritated at this, but ok, fair
enough, so i call them up to rearrange a test, they say that i can have one on the day before (13th) so i thought great, thats better than ever,
so i call up my instructor, book him for my test and i call DSA back, going through their awful menu system, say ok i want to book the 13th for my
test like you offered, they say ok, wait a few seconds.....erm, computer isnt letting me book you in for that day, you have to wait 10 working days
before taking your test again, arrgh, why couldnt they have told me that when i called this bloke up before :@
ok then what other dates have you got, erm, 20th ok then book me in for that
so ive finally got my test again,
ok, i know its minor compared to what some of you guys have endured with the dvla but its infuriating for an impatient teenager whos car is simlply
waiting to get on the road with the money i spent on the insurance (all £2000 of it) is ticking away with each passing day :@
and to make things worse i broke a hex bit in the top of my shock when i was trying to change it, so ive now got to send it to a garage :@

Most insurance companies will let you put insurance on hold as long as the vehicle isn't used, that way you won't lose precious days. Worth a quick phone call?

I see why there are so many motor bikes and scooters going around with L plates on, young drivers are just being priced of the road from insurance and fuel costs.
silver lining = more time to practice so you don't fail again. You obviously have some bits to work on seeing as you know you failed for a reason
last time.

£2000 isnt cheap!
That said, intitally we where quoted £4k to put be on my dads insurence. That was on a high millage 6year old petrol 1.6l 306. Worth proberbly under
£4k.
In the end the best route was to insure the car on a fleet policy for and unamed driver. (take care because most stipulate driver must be 21+).
However a year later the policy wasnt available so we ended up with me as a named driver with directline. But i was a year older, had my liecense a
year, etc.
I then paying £700 for the same car (which i bought off him) TPFT with on years NCB as a named driver.
- Crashed it, didnt claim, bought a 1.8 306. Which is £770 a year.
- Interestingly a 2l hdi diesal (90hp rather than 113) would cost more than the 18/ petrol. Presumably becauase its very easy to play with the power
curve and get 120hp out of it with no trace. Plus they hold value better. (sister/mum share a hdi).
Hopfully next year when i will have 2yrs NCB real (loosing the named driver clause) i will be able to leave directline, get a proper quote, and get it
down to £550 or somthing, maybe even get fullycomp it fully comp.
Although its still marginal as to the point, as even if the 1.6l had been insureed fuilly comp, i wouldnt have claimed, becuase loosing the ncb is
worth more than the £1000 of the car.

- I beleave statiscally however it is the second time. But theres clearly leeway and variables there.
I massivly failed last time.
- Four majors, and nearly enough minor to fail anyway. Total bag of nerves and what have you.
- Second time, much nicer bloke, had a bit of a chat as we went round. 2 minors. And one of those was 'not spending enough time looking at the
mirrors when you check them'
