great , pinto clacking mustangs , whatever next
Why the heck don't they just supply a full tube frame, instead of pissing around with a rusty old sierra floorpan???

A GT500 with a 1.6 Pinto, nice
Or maybe even a Diesel?
And I love this bit:

modified slightly to get the correct 108" wheelbase
Twas in Complete Kit Car and the owner took it to Stoneleigh. I thought it looked a bit plasticky, disproportionate and the worst thing was the manky mild steel exhaust hanging just within sight below the mock sill mounted exhaust.

afj - 14/5/08 at 06:59 PMi didnt like the one at stoneleigh. kind of reminds me of the mr2 /ferraris ............almost looks good...but not quite
Guinness - 14/5/08 at 08:02 PMI love the Elenor Mustang, but could never afford a real one.
If it was me, I'd be sticking a spaceframed chassis, with double wishbone suspension etc underneath that body and a serious V8 and transmission in it.
So it looks like an original, but goes, stops and corners like an Indy!

Didn't some of the mustangs actually have pinto engines?...seems to ring a bell...
dave-69isit - 14/5/08 at 11:28 PM2.3 pinto
Liam - 14/5/08 at 11:32 PMAm I the only person that likes it then?

I admit i am not familiar enough with the original to judge whether or not that looks good enough, but I assume it's no TR40! I mean it takes genuine doors and other bits.
Also, you could do worse than the sierra floorpan. Plenty of aftermarket cossie bits available to make it handle. Roll cage and triangulation should help too. It's not as sacrilegious as a Maestro based RS200 is it?! Probably outhandles an original like modern fake snakes do.
Hell I've just talked myself into buying one! Oh damn - just bought my first house. Forget it then - forever![]()

madmandegge - 14/5/08 at 11:59 PMI like the look, not to keen on the idea, but then again a real mustang wouldn't cost £8k!

I'd certainly have it, looks near enough to the real thing for me.
Wasn't this at Stoneleigh last year sitting on a wooden frame, just the shell?
02GF74 - 15/5/08 at 07:40 AMcannot be more than 1 K worth of materials so 7 K for 6 weeks work works out to be £ 60 K per year!!

fair play to them if someone want to spend that much..... it's a nice little earner.

but by the time you've got one of these on the road with all the right bits it'll cost more than 8k
I'd much have a lower spec real one - a 64 or 65 fastback with a small block V8 would be perfect![]()
jimmyjoebob - 16/5/08 at 11:45 AMWhy would you spend all that time and effort cutting a sierra shell back to a floorpan and bulkhead - why not just start with a basic built-inhouse chassis frame?
