OK, could you plan like this ?

Local road closed for the dreaded pebble dashing............ Fair enough.

Sign post a diversion......good thinking ?

Decide to put two separate sets of temporary traffic lights on said diversion to put down some anti skid stuff at two separate junctions on same day ?

They pull stunts like that round here too

Yup.

Sounds like our glorious country alright.

Round here, they are digging up a major roundabout on the A19, causing massive traffic jams, so I tried going round the other way.

Guess what?

The dual carriageway is down to one lane in either direction so they can re-do the central reservation.

I feel your pain.

Funny thing is being a full time, professional Project Manager only seems to make other peoples wee poor planning seem worse!

Opposite side of the same coin.

We had some roadworks start here on Monday. Scheduled to last for five days with the road closed and a diversion around them.

Done in two days, opened this morning again, all lined and everything.

We do get it right in this little island of ours sometimes.

2 of the major roads in Cambridge have roadworks at the moment for a misguided bus that nobody seems to want.

They must be using the part time unprofessional type of project managers!

The swines!

Sounds like Southampton council have been giving advice there. They regularly (and I mean once every few months) do major roadworks on 2, or even 3, of the 3 major routes into the city at the same time.
