I know this is not car related but I need to stay close to Bristol while my daughter is in Hospital and can't really stretch to a hotel for two for a week, maybe more. I do have a VW Camper and wonder if anyone in the Bristol area would know of campsites close to the north of the city where I could book in probably next week or the week after?

Which hospital? BRI, Southmead, or Frenchay?
If BRI then the one at the docks is within easy walking distance:

If not there may be other options but I think this one's your best bet, just avoid rush hour travelling if you have to get to Southmead or
Frenchay!

It must be Frenchay if north bristol.
Well, to be fair all three are North Bristol, though undoubtedly Frenchay is more so!
This is how i see it, BRI smack bang in the middle, Southmead, Nor North west, Frenchay North, either way you're struggling for a camp
site.

Frenchay. Doesn't need to be on the doorstep. A couple of miles North of the M4 would be fine or anywhere close-ish. Just need to be in the
area.

I'm afraid you're not going to hsve much luck in that area. There is this place at the M4 M5 interchange: http://www.horthamfarm.co.uk/ only
a few miles away but I think it's Caravan Club members only..

Try totaltravel or you could join Camping and Caravanning club for £38 and try a certificated site which will probably be a farmers field with a tap and disposal point like this one
After searches and following links I have come to the conclusion that camping in Bristol is pants. Why don't we have camping municipal sites like
they do in France?
May just have to dig deep, sell something and use a B&B.
