I used to drink Guinness, but then I went to Dublin, and tried the real stuff. So much better, so smooth, so creamy! The stuff we get here doesn’t really compare.

A couple of months ago I went to Copenhagen on business. In the hotel bar I had a few glasses of their general-purpose Carlsberg.

My! I wish we could get that stuff over here!

5.5% ABV, smooth and nice-tasting. The muck we get here, both standard and export, doesn't come anywhere near to it.

Mind you, at £4.50 for 500ml (slightly less than a pint) it should be good!

Cheep That.

Sigapore £4 for 1/2 ( and I think that was happy hour ) it was the hotel bar ( 5*) but it wasnt much cheeper elsewhere.

Getting back to Guinness (mmm!), When I used to live in Swansea, the bottled stuff came from the Dublin brewery as it was quicker to ship it from there straight to Swansea docks than to carry it down from north London.

Then, after a while, they decided to send us the London stuff - and I stopped drinking it! Just not the same.

All Guinness in the UK now comes from the same factory in Ireland - the London Brewery closed in 2005.

The quality of Guinness I've drunk lately must be due to the rubbish landlord in my local pub these days - he can't serve a decent pint of anything (he'd probably mess up a glass of water!).

I'd better sort my pension out, looks like I'll live for ever!

so if a pint a day helps I best start drinking five a day and I will be even better off!

I think I'll take an aspirin if it's just for the medical benefits. Guinness is nice but the price is inflated.
