OT Any drummers out there.
Blackbird Rush - 26/5/08 at 10:53 AM

I've got a Roland TD-8 electronic drum kit (for quiet playing at home) and want to 'mix in' a cd or playlist from my laptop to play along to.
There is a Stereo mix in but when i've plugged in a lead from various sources the mixed in sound is very quiet.

Anyone on here use roland drums? do you think the signal needs to go through an amp first? the manual is a very poor regarding this and had a google to no avail?

Cheers for any help...

Ash.

I liked the '(for quiet playing at home)' to justify the shame of having an electric kit. Acoustic all the way.

I am very sure playing it through a home stereo amp would give you all the volume you would want, particularly with headphones.

I thought this was going to be an opportunity to wheel out all my old drumer jokes, but it isn't really

Still, one that might fit-

What's the difference between a drum machine and a drummer?
With a drum machine you only have to punch the instructions in once.......

Cheers, i think i'll dig out a hi fi amp to try it out.

Yes Have an acoustic kit also for live stuff, (no room at home to set it up - garage is reserved for kit car!) However the Vdrums are very good and it would be interesting to see what is sounds like through a decent PA.

Not sure why drummers get all the stick (no pun intended) i can count right up to 10

I think it's because they tend to hang around with musicians

The fact that you can count to 10 is irrelevant, and proves the point. Everyone knows you only need to count to 8!

My mate was a drummer and he always said it was the others' fault if they couldn't keep up.
