what a crank
Looks familiar, I used to go on the bike with my dad like that before I was big enough to go on the back!
You think thats bad ? I've seen a family of 4 on a motor bike, a scooter carrying another scooter and passenger and numerous overloaded motor cycles in Greece. Seems to be a national hobby with hardly a helmet let alone protective clothing in sight.
It's a well known fact that asphalt in the US is softer than over here.
Besides, at that age children bounce well.
But is the gravel any softer? Have had bad gravel rash falling off a push bike at 30 mph . Hate to think what it would be like any faster. But then again it's never going to happen to us is it?
indeed.
I've been amazed since I've been in the US how many people don't wear helmets in the states where it is not compulsory. Same with
seatbelts in the back of cars. As an individual I guess it's your choice if there's no law, but I don't think it's right to expose
your kids to that kind of danger.
People seem to do it out of some kind of rebellion rather than an informed decision based on risk vs reward.
Same with seatbelts over here in a way, 5% of people still don't wear one. Why? I can't believe it's because they'd rather die in
the event of an accident. Seems to me it's some kind of ill-judged and pointless rebellion against authority.
Rant over.

Must admit to not wearing a helmet all the time in the days when it wasn't a legal requirement and loved jumping without any headgear in my skydiving days.As someone once said to me years ago" I thought I was immortal when I was younger"
I was into cycling in the period when "hard shell" helmets were being phased in.
I used to say to people - If you knew you were going to fall off the bike today, would you want to have a helmet on?
Of course you would, and as the odds are that you will fall off the bike at some time, why are you not wering a helmet?
Cheers
