how does anyone find a new job? i'm really struggling to find anything (with the exception of office stuff... )
i'm getting really pi$$ed off now
more at myself than anything.
Step one: decide what you want to do.
Step two: depends on step one and how qualified you are at doing it.
Be prepared to move or work away from home for the right job.
It's a lot to do with attitude.....
If you decide for yourself that you can do something with a bit of study or training then just do it, you will probably succeed.
If when you look at jobs you just think 'I can't do that because of such and such' to everything then you probably won't ever get
anything better.
Have a good look at your self and decide what skills and aptitudes you have and see what other careers you could apply them to.
good luck
Cheers

Send out your details to the agencies like monster etc and just keep putting them out.
If you want to move into something different then decide what it is and get the qualifications you need to do it. Plenty on night classes and the like
to choose from. There are many different types of office work, if you don't like one, try another. I have my details still out there and get
ringed up all the time, seems to really worry my boss when I disappear into a corner to speak to one

What do you want to do?? And what can you do?? (qualifications etc?)
Round here it helps if you're Polish.
i polski! (well, i'll try to be...)
hmmm, what do i want to do? well, thats half the problem. i know a lot of people will say if you like driving don't do it for work etc, but i
alwasy thought i'd enjoy lorry driving. not long distance, but you know, tesco deliveries or something, from warehouse to the shop, that kind of
thing, or even working on the glasgow subway, driving the trains. ok, so down in the tunnel all day, but its actually really really good money.
but.. 4 years ago i found out i was diabetic, just as i was looking to start getting a hgv license
so that put an end to that, and practically
every kind of driving job i can think of. as far as i can work out, i'm only left with taxi driving (noooooo) and DHL or something, which
i'd like doing i think, but the nearest courier depot is about 50miles away. the money would have to be REALLY good to do that trip every day to
work. and all the couriers want previous experience and the jobs don't seem to come up much.
I like DJing too, proper club DJing, not mobile DJ or anything bad like that. there's a lot of money for club DJing, but you need to spend a long
time building a reputation for youreslf before you could do it professionally.
as for qualifications, i got 5 highers (like A levels) at school so thats good, didn't go to college after that. went straight into work with
Boots.
one of the things I'm worried about with college is (as i mentioned in another thread on here, that made me think about writing this one) is
spending years to get a qualification in say for example heavy plant maintainance to find that when i've got a qualification and get a job, i
don't actually enjoy the job. my self confidence is just a little lacking too...
which doesn't help
I sent out 100 CV's to local companies had 4 interviews. I took one of the offers and I love it!
Best thing to do is get the CV out and wait for repllies.
hth.
i aint got any good advice but good luck all the same. Chin up, you can do anything you put your mind to.
i have taken people on based as much on attitude and personality than skill as you can always learn new skills . i always wanted my own garage and its taken 6 years of graft to get established ,i think the best advice is to find something you love doing and the rest will fall into place.
