Hi Ernesto,
It looks good
What engine will it use? or did I miss seeing it? Do I see a sprocket on the side of the diff.?
The frame is very similar to a 60's TVR, and should be very strong.
I don't think you'll have any trouble building a Locost after this experience.
Hi Alan B
Thanks for your words!
My biggest problem in fact it’s the engine. It’s a 50 cc, with 6 hp at 8000 rpm, automatic clutch, electric start and makes a pretty noise.
In fact the chassis appears to be a TVR’s because I used some photos of a TVR to draw it with AutoCAD.
The bodywork was made like yours mid-engined car. I used templates taken from a 1/24 scale Revell model and scaled up.
This Internet thing is fantastic! Your from Florida, I’m from Portugal. Imagine!
I think you are a consultant specialising in automation for automotive parts. I am a mechanical designer, but not in the automotive world. But I’m
thinking to change that.
Ernesto Freitas
that looks like a really well made car.
all that trouble and you put a 6hp 50cc in it??
Is that cos it fits into some kind of licesing category in your country - like be driven by yonger people or have less tax?
Id be interested in knowing! Looks to me that a honda cx500 bike would always ne a nice cheap small car engine - 50hp output.
Shaft drive too - no good if you want an isonblade type car tho, unless you fit 3 - now there is an idea!

Like I said, my biggest problem it’s the engine!
But the main objective for this car is the looks, and the low speed as well.
The car is for my 6-year-old kid! The top speed is 25-30Km/h. I don’t wont that he ruin the car and his head in a accident, so there is no point to
put in a bigger engine.
In Portugal, that’s a big problem trying to put a home made car in the road. I like to live in Portugal very, very much, but how I’d love to live in
the UK or in the USA, just to have the chance to build a car and put it in the road (legally).
My next project it’s a 2/3rds scale “locost” and a real “Locost” with a Toyota Corolla running gear, and the eternal problem (here in Portugal) is
going to be the Portuguese legislation, that’s a real challenge to get it licensed. (The real one, not the 2/3rds scale replica)
In fact, I would like you to help me!
I think my only way to get my car licensed, it’s to pay a visit to the UK. Can any one tell me what to do if I need to do that ??
I’ve heard that in Spain there’s a laboratory that makes the same kind of tests that in the UK (the SVA) any one knows that ? Madrid is 500 Km from my
home!
Ive heard a similar story from norway i think, basicly if you build the car,get it sva,d in england,re import it to portugal and register it there, easy peasy(not)but good luck anyhow. ps send us some sun
