How long would a jerry can of deisel last if left?
If you leave it on your local council estate, about 16 seconds.

oops! cocked up on that one mate - it's underneath your avatar![]()
Diesel is made from crude oil which has been underground for millions of years. It is pretty certain it will outlast you providing you keep the jerry
can sealed.
I don't know why, but that avatar is strangely satisfying to watch. And it's nice we don't have to go to YouTube anymore to see it!
I had some in a jerrycan which was in the garage for about 3 years or so - in the car it was fine. Give it a good shake first, and pour it through a
filter. I also made sure my tank wasn't completely empty when I used it.
Not sure if it applies to diesel, but aircraft are parked with their tanks full of kerosene, to prevent condensation forming on the inside of the
tanks and contaminating the fuel. Would be best to store the jerrycans as brim full as you can get them...
