A couple of weeks ago the dash on my girlfriends TT started to do odd things on start up. It wasnt driven for 2 weeks and the battery was flat. Replaced it as it was passed its best. On replacing the battery the dash went in disco light mode and now wont come on. No speedo, rev etc.

Is this likely to be a serious (costly) repair? The net does not give any accurate diagnostics.

Any thoughts welcome.

If you mean the dash pod they are a very common fault, they are expensive to replace, nearly £800 BUT Audi dealers WILL replace all faulty dash pods for FREE. Go to your audi dealer and see what they have to say, if you have no luck with them phone audi customer service and they will help sort it all out.

Just in case you are wondering, they will replace on all cars including imports and high mileage. Had one replaced on our 98 LHD TT not too long ago.

try leaving the battery disconected over night then reconnect and see if it works then. Might just be the ecu is confused by a short power loss.

Or just nip to your local Audi place and have a word with a mechanic on the side while he's having a smoke break to see what they say.

sounds like the BCM needs flashing. a decent AUDI dealer should do it cheap / free

My Sister had this common problem.
I believe it was questioned on BBC's Watchdog.

Her's was eventually replaced under warranty on car 5 year old car.

It was on watchdog and im pretty sure you can get it repaired for free

The problem is not limited just to TT's, we do bodywork for the local main dealer, and if we get one go down while on site, they shaft us good and proper!
