What have people used to put together there cars? At the minute my chassis is sitting on the table i welded it together on but its quite big and it
gets in the way when trying to work on the car.
Im planning on moving this table to have as a work bench (the sheds quite big and after a clear out will have a good amount of space.
So whats the best to use for assembly? Trolleys? stands?
Cheers
how strong is the table, can you build the car to a reasonable stage where you can drop it to the floor with several big blokes and stick it straight
on wheels?
i uses tressels for mine and one snapped, came in the next morning to find one end in the air and other on the floor
The table is very strong. It is made from industrial shelfing unit cut down to size with and 8x4 sheet of 8mm steel on top. (so it wouldnt bend or
move when making the chassis)
I would be able to make quite a bit on the table but the only problem is the engine protrudes about an inch below the chassis so i wont be able to put
that in on the table. plus i would quite like the table to have as a work bench as my dad doesnt like me using his too much.
I made this out of estate agents' signs.
Day One
In spite of gloomy comments on here, it didn't collapse.
The engine went in AFTER it was lowered onto the wheels.
I used 2 workmates. One was a look-alike so it wasn't quite the same height, but a bit of wood soon sorted that.
(I mean Black-and-Decker style WorkMates - oh, you know what I mean! )

Mine is sat on axle stands at max reach which are still in reach of the trolley jack. I usually leave it like that btu if it's decent weather I chuck some wheels on it and wheel it outside.
cheers guys will probs just whip it on some axle stands for now
